I understand that the Teir 1/2/3 calculation is based on a number of aspects including the $ value and length of time of the Contract Offered by the club the free agent is moving to. Why isn't it based on the $value and length of time of the contract offered by the existing club? The compensation should be based on what the player is worth to the existing club not the new club. If we've offered James 5 years at $600k, that is what the compensation should be based on. As that is what he's worth to us. It seems arse about when you think about it.

Following on from Roosy's comments about getting a couple more quality midfielders. I was thinking that Zaharakis could be a good target. Anyone know his contract status. His good is brilliant and might be keen to get out of Essendon with the ASADA stuff sure to hit home at some stage.

Apparently he had a good game this week in the SA Under 18s. But needs to work on his disposal.

Redleg it's been 20deg+ in Melbourne for the past 2 weeks. I'm not sure the heat will be a big factor. Does anyone know if Monfries is expected to miss? I see he was subbed with an ankle injury. Hartlett also out so that helps our chances.
