Melk doesn't deserve selection really.
-
Might have to take that back. Sorry but unless Tmac is injured put him to the backline and let Harry have a go up forward. It's Goody's opportunity to show his dare for this year and attacking moves.
-
There was no proof in that post It was pure conjecture that he might miss. Let's see anyway JVR will play any way that's a surety.
-
Inside info ? Brain fade ? Or just guessing? Tmac should be before dropped placed in defence and HP given a few games up forward to take the pressure off himself end free him up. JVR is the ideal 2nd ruck spot sharing about 25/33% with Brody and resting up forward. His performance last week at Casey was very strong ( BTW Dee Spencer your stats from last week were incorrect) From 11 marks and 19 disposals he deserves finally to debut in the team and be let loose using his marking and competitive skills to our advantage. If he kicks some goals as well they will be a bonus at this stage. Never spoil the truth with your opinion Dee to try and make a good story. Or something like that. Wonder how good JVR will be in 2 years?
-
You could have wished him well or congratulated him. You can only do your best and be promoted. It's great for the fans to get excited and he will know he has support from them. They will thank goodness be more positive than you and be parting the excitement. Oh sorry AFL isn't to get excited about one must be solemn in case he under performs.

Agree TSD MJ will be the star FF I reckon Rooey will play all over the forward line and on the ball for short spells and kick plenty to ensure he gets us over the line in the future. Add maybe Sestan in 12 mths with his goalkicking and skilled forward work plus Kossie hopefully. Sounds very dangerous for goalkicking goals!!!

If D/Lers read my posts earlier in the week about what role he should be doing if he debuts. I indicated he should be doing the 2nd ruck role ( really it is the third) in 2022 but we are back to Brody first ruck and Tmac struggling to make an impression as a forward ruck so really it's best if JVR is given some free reign to play tha Weid role that Sam couldn't because he did not have the physical and mental capacity to grab or grip the footy in a contest consistently. Entirely different set of skills that JVR possesses to make a fist of it. He has the marking ability the never say die attack to mark the ball and he follows up like a Clarry disciple to ensure that ground opportunities are not wasted. I say Binman take the pressure off him with one opponent and let him roam for 1/3!of his day doing what he did last week, taking marks and repelling attacks, and also the forward zone he took some as well and converted. I did warn that all Dees fans want to see is JVR kick goals but he should be developed with the run on ruck then he will be prepared for a breakout career in attack rounding his whole game out as he learns and Jones his craft. Good luck Roooy!!! BTW don't be surprised if this is not a giant incentive to Matty Jefferson who is starting to specialise in his marking and gaining more confidence. I am not sure he will need the whole season before he is demanding he be given an opportunity to debut. He is freakishly talented and holding him back may not be the way to develop him. Let this wild horse run and mark free and let's see where it takes him. we won't have the oldest team ever much longer if this pair can make a good start to their careers with the mighty Dees. Our forward line may well be a real strength in the near future thanks again to the fantastic work of JT and TL and their team/s. Cant wait till Sunday to see this debut and the excitement it will generate in the crowd who may well be a thousand or three larger than duly expected.

Really McVee needs a rest ! What makes you think that. ? 2 games in our fitness staff would resign if a player had to be managed after 2 rounds after a rest brfoure the season started. Please maybe you have a rest as well with a weird post like this.
-
Clearly our plan is JVR and Matt Jefferson. From this season onwards getting games into. We haven't got the cash left if we want Kossie paid well to retain him what he is worth.
-
Why and where will he play. He has no form. Let him earn promotion. JVR has earned a chance well before Joel.
-
The other thing is Dees fans are not great at pre booking. We have never had to really and this May reflect in total walk ups of Round1 and this season.
-
You said all the other tickets that weren't sold prior to Round1 and obviously missed the mark! It could happen again even if the GP is on. Reckon 40,000 might get there.
-
Love your attitude WCW and Beard. So true.
-
Gee Debauched you put a strange attitude to situations, almost bizarre in fact. In 1956 or at least one of the famous 50's Grand Finals we won our 19th and 20th players did not come on the ground. Do you think those reserves on the bench who did not participate go to our reunions and not be proud or thankful or regarded as part of our premiership team. Has society changed that much in 70 years that JJ would think like you posted. He after all played during the year and contributed. Or does society look at things in such a warped and selfish way ( like you obviously) that all team rules have gone out the window. Hate to be your son if that happened to me btw and you gave that attitude to him. Why is he going to feel uncomfortable at reunions? He is part of that famous 23 who got medals and Will for ever ( including Jacko) be heroes to all Demons fans ( except maybe you) that broke that drought. It's hard not being sort of personal in this post as I can't think of this situation like you have portrayed in any time nor place. Cricket flags are won by some players who have not batted or bowled in the match just fielded and there are 12th man involved. Want to take their reunion invite away as well?
-
PS we upgraded our draft selections to get Pickett not tanked.
-
Sorry Mac but I resent that accusation about 2019. Yes it's hard to believe we finished 17th with 5 wins but tanking was not in the equation. It has been repeated ad nauseum about our injuries and surgeries after 2018 and many shortened and underdone pre season players that played plus further injuries that season. I realise that your post sounds much more exciting but really it's not correct and I am spoiling it with the truth. Msybe that's what the Eagles and Dockers are saying in your state but it's about as seriously correct as the constant booing of umpires and opponents by Eagles fans.
-
Yes it does. Even in footy you need a supporting role to back up Jack. Part of last weeks performance reeked of NOnE or very little leadership. Jack is good at showing us the way but Maysie or Rick or even Trac May well avoid the void with ideas encouragement and even actions as well. It's important to communicate at times especially if things are not going well. You and others might say you don't need a name to do that but it's a much better alternative if some responsibility is recognised and rewarded and the team plays recognising roles and importance within structures etc. Wr need all our small 1% ers on show on Sunday to break this frightening hoodoo of two decades. I would make both Rick and Maysie deputy VCs as they have earned the respect and honour doing the backline proud over the last 3 plus years.
-
PS We are not playing STH MELB. Not sure you are hoping it's like the old Swans before Their move to Sydney. Same as we are not The REDLEGS that is Norwood in the SANFL. I am not sure when we became the Demons but think it was some time in the '40's when The great Checker Hughes was coaching premierships. I know we value and love our history in two great eras last century but the DEMONS won all the 50's 60's and most importantly the 2021 premiership not the previous name. Of Fuschias and Redlegs if in fact that was ever our name!!
-
For the very reason you say NO to JVR I say YES PLEASE. Get him in as the Weid 2nd ruck role ( that he could not grab due to his uncompetitive ness) resting forward and supporting Brody and around the ground. He played that to perfection last Sat at Casey snd with Max sidelined for up to 6 matches JVR deserves his debut. Playing him is not going to lose us the game as we have to play smarter vs Swans than we have for the past 20 years and Goody must be accountable for our recent record vs the Swans,
-
The very reason Harry should be pushed forward if not at the start but during the game ( if we are struggling) is that we are playing Sydney and need some X factor and surprise for the Swans. Goody has been out coached by John Longmuire in 2 games in 2022 plus games prior since 2017 and had to come up with a greater strategy and not just depend on our contested ball factor to win. Swans always match it and are smarter up forward to boot. I were oilfield bring in JVR to the 22 and also have Tmac ready to go down back and Harry to CHF orFF. We need good marking players vs the McCartins as well and no Gawny remember. We need to lower our eyes and deliver to leading forwards. Also how good has BBB been! Funny how his detractors are quiet and they said he was cooked. Saying that about Tmac also. I believe JVR's game last Sat at Casey as a run on second ruckman taking 11marks and his tackles should earn him a debut in the role and he can rest up forward and on the bench. I know most Dees fans would rather have 5 goals from JVR than playing a team role but he can be just as good not being minded all the time Tjis us the role we wanted Weid to do but his greatest weakness was his competitiveness in the Seniors. JVR almost thrives on this style and it's second nature. Release him please to kick start his career while Max is out . Hibbo also should come back in place of Melksham or Harmes. He puts pressure on forwards both physically and mentally. Go Dees this is our biggest test other than Cwood let's get it right and learn why we have failed the Swans test 17 out of the last 20 games most on the MCG.
-
Tmac spent a short period in defense vs Dogs I believe and a swap with Petty should always be ON during a game. How you have dreampt LangdonHB ? Howes as a replacement winger when JJ was best in midfield at Casey? and Viney down back??? Who is going to take marks around the ground? Going on form for Casey JVR is a lock in for that and a forward role at times also. Hope we play a full hard Demon type game this week and prove we are tough enough to go with the big boys.
-
WWSWS I am not that naive to think that there wont be 120,000 plus at The GPrix. What I was quoting was the likely 2/3,000 Dees fans that might prefer the GP to our Swans game this Sunday afternoon. I have lived in Melb for 44 years ( and only been interstate for 30 years since) but I know Melbourne as a sports City and why it is one of the best in the world. I will be at the G and hope you are as well and 35,40/000 Dees fans like the Round 1 crowd vs the Dogs.
-
Let me clarify that last comment. Iam saying there will be more Swans fans to Round 1 than when 8/10,000 Bullies Fans turned up. Might get 45,000 if good weather 50,000 if Dees fans turn up like Round 1.
-
I bet it wont make a whiff of difference to Pies/Tigers fans on Frid night that trains are out. Dont think trains out made any difference to the 48,000 plus in Round 1 vs Dogs at night. Sunday is a better time slot for replacement transport. BTW Poita how many Dees fans vs Bulldogs did you COUNT? 30,000 35,000 or 38/40,000 ?? And Why should we drop significantly on Sunday except for 2/3,000 for Formula GP? There will be at least as many Swans fans if not more than Bullies!
-
Tmac far better to do Petty role and say JVR to Macca role with May to FB and Tommo to Grundy role. Harmes and Melksham out Jordon and Hibberd in.
