  1. Yes, and can the club trade Viney rather than Brayshaw please
  2. and on the script in front of them "Discuss Adem Yze departure from Hawthorn ~ and be weird about it."
  3. Great banter lads
  4. or his hanger at Kardinia Park, where Brad Miller literally almost killed Tom Lonergan, who then had a kidney removed, and we snatched a draw from the jaws of victory
  5. Well, after reading this entire thread, there is only one conclusion - I presume this is our fate
  6. @A F - I agree and even go the next step because I find Viney's skills limited, he would be the one that I would trade - and that would feel a lot easier if he didn't have his surname, and was made captain a bit too early for my liking. Viney's passion is great - and his skill set is limited. I kind of hope he gets traded- because broadly speaking, it means we are getting into a ruthless space.
  7. Come on @Smokey, the camembert munching, calvodos drinkng, pmu lurking francophile, explained pretty clearly beyond corporate speak why this stuff works... I could give you my take on exactly the same stuff as to why it works, using different language from 2 of my professions (one being a railway labourer) throughout my life, if that helped convince you.
  8. hee hee whitfield and 11 then?
  9. I'd take #11 #13 and Whitfield for #2
  10. I've missed the incisive debate and knowledge in your posts - welcome back
  11. Yeah, I thought someone may suggest that. Agreements are made within clubs one year about a players whilst assessing who may also fit their list demographic in future years. This is also contingent on contractual status of said players in future years (or the current year). I'll be clear - deals for one player where there appears to be 'overs' paid, is more of a payment upfront to get something down the line, be it one, two or three years, if an in principal agreement is made with player still on the list of the club. The AFL market place operates inside a vacumn, you cannot be screwing another team over, because literally the AFL will not allow for that. AND there may be some years before you cash your initial down payment.
  12. jeez, you are a punitive bloke aren't you. I can't help but see this deal as inextricably linked to Hogan's last year. Bell, in a new position came in and did his theatrics for the media, but remember it is a closed market, clubs deal with clubs year in year out, hence good relationships need to be maintained and would be maintained behind closed doors - sometimes you give a little (or what appears to be a lot) and then you get something back in another year.
  13. I would suspect there has been an' in principle agreement' with someone(a few someones) for sometime to fill the small forward void, hence the delisting notified straight away. Mahoney/Goodwin have a history of getting their trades done, early and with minimum of fuss due to very good relationship building over a long period of time.
  14. I'm not worried about how we are seen amongst the broader community - supporters opinions do not influence the day to day running of the club, or strategic list management, or winning premierships, etc etc etc etc..
  15. is it clear that we are not @dazzledavey36?
  16. with that statement - like your handle pal - u got to be kidding, yourself... please link how supporters comments influence the melbourne football clubs 'naffness'. ps... just on Petracca. Any club in the league (including Melbourne) asks about everyone whom they think could fit their list profile, so it's a bit like hitting the dancefloor as a single person, and you see someone grooving around in a hot outfit - you only take em home, if they're keen too... Surely as a football society - we have moved on from the romantic notion of a Chris Grant version of loyalty, from both players to clubs and clubs to players.
  17. You know Josh Mahoney is from Williamstown?
  18. most posts infuriate me @praha, and on this one - I concur. apols for the backhander...
  19. My thoughts on the Alan Richardson appointment is more about how he is perceived by a playing group 30-35 years younger than him. The aura of Roos, Clarkson etc is runs on the board/premierships from a coaching perspective, I am dubious he will be fully respected, irrespective of his knowledge, lived experience and nice blokeness.
  20. Everything in moderation - it was lovely in 2018 not having trade speculation as the most exciting part of the year... but we are back to what we know and love best
  21. I am looking forward to the country football-esque score of the larger regional town, vs the township that we used to get on the ABC Country Football League Wrap Up on Saturday evenings. And, in the Western District Football League Heywood: 37.16 Bessiebelle: 0.3 and the Dee's are Bessiebelle
  22. Oh mate, your posts are so so cryptic. plain english please.
  23. Well, if as you have alluded to, that Mahoney goes - Pert is making his (and stakeholders he is accountable to) agenda quite clear.
  24. @dazzledavey36 - i enjoy your input dazzle - please help me understand why though?
  25. Did you friend discuss the details of what they were peeved about in particular? Was it about how he operated in relationships or more pragmatics about systems/structure/decisions making that impacted the players? As an add on - not being part of the cohort means your opinion that is sought, may be entirely dismissed (knowing this as it is a directly lived experience) - ie: you are valued...only to a point that it goes with what wants to be heard.
