Sam Weideman
Practically speaking, with TMAC done for the season - I assume Preuss goes forward. Does that mean Weid gets the no 1 or no 2 backman? I actually think Weids job will be harder through the lack of TMacs presence. so I for one wonโt be judging a poor output too much from him because of this circumstance

POSTGAME: Rd16 vs Carlton
I agree with the first statement, but of course, that will never be said publicly Secondly - Perhaps they don't (but that might make YOU feel better). They know this all ready and will change things, which in particular looks like personnel, refinement to game plan - which only means in the off season. Winning premierships is a process of refinement

POSTGAME: Rd16 vs Carlton
I'd recommend anyone wanting to get a sense of Goodwin, or perhaps doubts his care and passion as demonstrated by how he performs in the media to watch todays press conference. He is succinct, open and acts with humility. Further, he dissects the need to be adaptable considering the ever-changing circumstance of games (no plan b - i hear people scream). It's a good good listen.

It's The Preseason Stupid
How about this. Coaches know to the nth degree players current capacity due to all the metrics they have - and will not waiver from the game style as they understand that the players in 2019 because of fitness/injury/preason cannot actually polish off the game style. BUT rather than revert to another game style for the sake of one year- understand the bigger picture of refinement of numerous seasons. It is US supporters who take things out of context - whom look at things in one year cycles, or get emotional over things in an even shorter amount of time particularly when we are losing, and lose sight of the bigger picture.

It's The Preseason Stupid
Do you take on the information that these clubs have not been hit with the severity that we have?

Maxy's favourite left-field footballers
I feel sorry for Max, get's a contract to write stuff - and the staff writers come up with 'concepts' throughout the year... it'd be bloody hard work.

2019 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Ahhh, hey Matty, I thought you'd pop up and move the goal post. That wasn't the initial argument. Anyhoo - It's around 1 a year for the last decade (non top 10 draft picks)...is that enough...mmm I'm not sure - however I am also not sure of the average across all clubs, to see what an industry standard is. Edit: (thanks for the kick up the ar$e @drysdale demon to do a little research) We're at 1.1 per year Randomly, ill pick Richmond and WCE, BRIS and HAWTHORN over the last decade and their drafting and who would still be on a list within the AFL system. RICH Grimes, Ellis, McIntosh, Castagna, Rioli, Broad, Bolton Graham, Higgins (9)/10years= .9 WCE Darling, Lycett, McGovern, Hutchings, Sinclair, Sheed, Barass, McGovern, Cole, Veneable, Rioli, Waterman, Ryan Petruccelle, Allen (15)= 1.5 BRis Harwood, Hanley, Lester, Yeo, Golby, Aish, McStay, Cutler, Andrews, Mathieson, Hipwood, Witherdan, McInerny, Bailey, (14) =1.4 HAW Duryea, Suckling, Smith Puopolo, Hill, Breust, Sicily, Howe, Burton, Glass, Morrisson, (11) =1.1 So the average from these 4 clubs is 1.2 = Melb's is at 1.1 *happy to argue a handfull of players in or out of for any club... So what do I take out of this, well, Melbourne as a club aren't far off premiership winner, contenders and wooden spooners in their capacity to develop players. I think it still reinforces my argument that all clubs lament choices made, or players looked over, none more or less than any other.

2019 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
The same could be argued for any other club, looking at any other team including Melbourne... it's a redundant argument... For mine - these are players that are currently listed (and not) that we have nurtured and are/could be on the list (not necessarily the best 22) that Melbourne have developed....
