Got it in one- and if you want to get a bit neurosciencey - The act of empathy (genuine care and connection from coach/players) reduces cortisol and adrenaline and helps the athlete focus more on task next time. Ie: kicking fluently through the ball, rather than stabbing/guiding the kick (which is what players do when they're feeling anxious)....which increases the liklihood of a miss, and compounds the anxiety for the next time etc etc etc

was that about Petracca? or the lame gag?
-
you forgot Petracca to have his break out game...
-
Always reminds me of this bloke... 'greatest brain on the field, great captain etc etc yadda yadda'.
-
I find it amazing that some on this site - cannot see beyond a belief that 'whoever is on the park - has to/must be able to perform at first 22 level, irrespective of talent, experience etc'. The How Sick is Your Club stat - represents a lot of why we are, where we are. As a club we have been beaten massively by the injury stick... and these are the real world consequences that every club experience....
-
Where's the evidence that that is occurring? Mon ami- instead of bluster, try and think about the valid reasons for this particular weekend why Preuss has not got a call up? I can start you off if you like...

ergo...9 clubs get it wrong, 23 weeks a year?

Oskar's debut - What a speech!
Engorged Onion replied to Hellaintabadplacetobe's topic in Melbourne Demons
how's the serendipity of the timing of his debut -
Yes and the other factor - an amazing free kick differential...
-
It reminds me of the Jetstar flight times - always say it's an extra 10-15 minutes, so you're always pleasantly surprised that 'yet again' you've arrived early. I think in 'org speak' - its called - expectation management

Have these stats been tweeted or insta'd or whatever'd to the afl feed? Maybe to Gerard on Sen? Let's start a conversation for change... FMD - WCE, SYD (for the length of time) and WB for 2016 look like outliers eh... anyone who's got an account - flick it through to sirswampthing to get some p-values organised on that data.

about as likely as those thinking that the next round will be Petracca's break out...
-
I reckon you're pulling the trigger early @Deehumanizing on May. However I am sure you've made your mind up and the bloke has only played 1 game. I personally think he will compliment the back 6 really well due to his skills sets... and I think with the pace of the game - Goodwin and the FD are wanting the zone, rather than the man on man - but OMAC ((as @binman) has stoutly defended) and May will be more of the one on one player that OMAC - anchor's if you will - whilst the others get to rebound.
-
What bits are you unsure about @DemonLad5? He's a pretty good kick on the run and set shot, has pretty high tackle pressure - and even the inferred pressure of his speed is there... I personally rate him up forward. Hore is rock solid - brave - happy to cop a hit, just needs to get depth in his kicking (although his 50m goal against GCS semi disproves that)....

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARRISON PETTY
Engorged Onion replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
100% Clint, that was my vibe - it's a shame for Lewis, but his little slip sliding goose is cooked... -
Goal kicking - is it the yips or something deeper

@Mazer Rackham , do you have Trac's schedule on your iphone? -
love it - can you bold OMAC
-
theyve had a dave williams with them for 3/4 years now.
-
well, we have turned a corner in many many respects this game - irrespective of the outcome.
-
one more goal to us , and it blows it open right!??
-
As The Small Faces once sang... “And, depending on my labour...the texture and the flavour” - same as a football career I presume... Song of a Baker
-
I like your optimism and hope it plays out that way. The pessimist in me says we will be down by 5 goals come 1/4 time.
-
That statement feels rather contradictory The first part -means he was close the second part - means he was nowhere near it....

Mostly I find AFL coaches the opposite of innovative - particularly in relation to attack/offense - as mentioned in other posts notably by @binman I believe. The torp of course when pulled off is a thing of beauty, can beat a line of defensive players by 10 yards or so...but as coaches are risk averse - you'd be dropped for daring to pull it out mid play as a deliberate strategy. Goodwin was clearly trying some different things - high press, 7/8 players coming off the back square etc - but he is one of the few to test these things out.

I know - and we have 3 wins! Imagine how unstoppable we will be, when it is rectified
