  1. I don't think it is wise, or accurate to use any other team as a reference point of what can be done, when there are injuries. Because it's difficult to measure what each individual who is injured how they impact on the team dynamics. Further, let alone analysing whom the team comes up against on a particular week with respect to their oppositions own, form, fitness and confidence levels. We are not a joke, nor are we a laughing stock, that's just language used out of frustration. We will come back next year, maybe not to the extent that we want, andwe will improve. Goodwin is a good coach, who is learning... you don't get to a prelim by being a [censored] coach.
  2. Well, for some reason - I always felt he got the chop a bit too earlier, so lacked continuity. @Satyriconhome do you know if he WILL be elsewhere next season within the AFL itself? Hope so, seemed like a nice bloke.
  3. I see fatigue as a factor, not in the sense that game plan induces fatigue more readily than any other, moreso our players are young, and they were up for 6-8 weeks Goodwin wont change the style, merely to adapt to who we have on the park (or who we dont).... They and the FD would have hoped for better this year... and knowing the nuances understand that with limited prep and all the injuries...then the year was to play out poorly, which isn't a reason in itself to change the course of building a system with continuity. He and the FD can willingly write this year off - and are still playing the game over the next few years. I'll repeat, Goodwin's style isn't anymore fatiguing than any other. They all have to run, and they all get smashed.
  4. Zing, as soon as wrote that - I thought someone would pass this comment
  5. Reduce interchange rotations. I'm thinking of how cooked we were against Carlton in the 4th in particular, and how we couldn't run, couldn't tackle etc. The players would have to conserve energy, throughout the rest of the match - there would be more one on ones...it would then be a spectacle.
  6. Yes, agreed @Bring-Back-Powell I am surprisingly disappointed so far.. he can take some great outstretched marks up the field, and happy to take a hit, it hasn't quite materialised yet in the f50...
  7. Well, with all due respect to Jack, give me Mr Lever for those ceremonial positions.... But moreso - Marty Hore of the chiseled looks (ROLF) - come on - how can that NOT be captaincy material. It's like he is 1940's fighter pilot against the Luftwaffe.
  8. mmm, Im more of a gamelan kind of guy - (but I remembered u2 (who i was in to) sampled this back in 1992...)
  9. Does captaincy actually matter anymore? As teenagers say "Like, actually?'
  10. Public Enemy used to sing @Bitter but optimistic
  11. That sounds tasty.... so, what's the schism?
  12. So you don't think Jack knows how awful his kicking is , and knows that stats, and knows how ordinary he is, and tries to fix it, but can't because he is well, simply limited. I agree with what @Smokey says, a one trick pony who's work ethic was great/what we needed 4 years ago, and now is superseded by more talented players... this is what SHOULD happen of course. Sometimes you get appointed to your 'position of incompetence'... and whilst Im not saying he isn't a leader, I guess the club understand he is a 'spiritual leader' who lacks polish and class when delivering the pill. That of course, may be fine within the playing group itself, but looks ugly for what spectators/supporters want.
  13. I dont know you, but I missed you
  14. Imagine how dominant we would be if we had connection and work rate!
  15. Language evolves @Queanbeyan Demon, that's alright isn't it? I'm sure he uses language that the player's get. I'm sure he talks about Drake, Fortnight and Minecraft... You might not relate to it, I guarantee you the players and staff do.
  16. out for blood @dazzledavey36?
  17. What I love most about supporting Melbourne is the fact that it is the flagship team on both a micro and a macro level of the AFL’s notion of an equal playing field / or ‘any given sunday’. I love that season to season we don’t know what we’re going to get, and even if we’re up 6 goals early in the 4th - the players love to model just how even the competition really is. time to break out the popcorn for a 10 goal loss.
  18. Except he understands the impact of injuries and knows that it wont be an annual occurance I would suggest....
  19. nothing to see here... He is an expert at it, and must have done it a lot at school methinks, just to get the kids who paid out on his name.
  20. nah, he keeps misreading the flight.... just on that... I have watched only maybe half the games this year on tv - and aside from the 4 kicks that hit a target on the chest lace out per game - and aside from the entries that are actually bombed to a pack - it amazes me how consistently the kicks are 'just' over the arms of the leading player... It feels like those kicks happen so frequently. If those targets were just 15cm lower - i assume our f50 conversion rate would be a lot better than it is... and Weid would be doing quite well. I'm not sure if this is purely a Melbourne FC club thing, or industry wide.
  21. it's almost like all these close matches are scripted or something....
  22. Is it possible for thread be opened about playing in NT without Demonlanders who are still grappling about the concept that we play games up there, not posting about their grievance yet again? Also - the team stay at the Casino. I went 2 years ago and had a great time... IIRC we were down at half time and came back strongly in the second half. I was only up for 2 nights - and if you are there for a short time - make sure you get out to the Alice Springs Desert Park - awesome experience.... and a lovely walk back into Alice itself which is well signposted.
  23. I think he has got better as he had adjusted within the team - what he lacks (and he can build) is penetration on his field kicks... and yes the goal he kicked (I was standing behind those goal posts) was a ripper, I was stoked for hi.
  24. Back in my day, journalists used to write factual information that was sourced from sources with facts about things they knew about. This modern world of journaling, is just opinion pieces to sucker you in to click on it, so your personal data can be sold, mined and whatever else (whatever that means)... Also, I had to walk to school 8 mile with hessian sacks on my feet, in snow, up hill, both there and back to home, where I had to tend to the cows, collect pinecones to put on the fire and listen to Evert Taube on the Gramophone.
  25. Ola' ! My fave part of the world - how mad is this place
