Viney is useless. We would be better off with Petracca getting thaat time.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
KingDingAling replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ben King looks pretty good. If we did land pick 2 and GC didnt get a PP, would we give up our pick 2 for King or keep it. I would probably keep it but would have no problems if we given it up. On exposed form King looks at least worthy of it. GC have picked astutely in that last draft. They really need to keep King. -
New Balance Re-Commits For 3 More Years
KingDingAling replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
New balance are a great shoe. I wear them running. Its all I will buy. The club dont deserve New Balance to stick by us. So good on New Balance. Hopefully MFC pull their finger out next year. -
Will Carlscum rise up the ladder?
KingDingAling replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
Cripps, Curnow, Walsh, Mckay, possibly Coniglio. Carlton will start to really make inroads next year. If they get expected improvement from Dow, SPS, Stocker, Fischer, they will possibly make the 8. -
I agree. The decision to use Gawn to tag Grundy is troubling. I would like to know Goodwin's logic behind it? On face value it looks ambitious, if not completely stupid. Grundy is a glorified midfielder, and we are rather contested, we werent in any real danger of Grundy smashing us in clearances if left to his own devices. Furthermore, last time Gawn went toe to toe with Grundy - Gawn came out on top. If any of the coaching staff bothered to watch the Collingwood vs Hawthorn game a few weeks earlier they would have seen that the way to beat Grundy is to push forward and damage the scoreboard - as McEvoy did. Supercoach (a gimmick game that heavily favours popular players) stats mightnt of shown it that day but McEvoy was far more the effective player vs Grundy that day.

If GC land a priority pick and push us back to pick 3, then an ideal scenario for us would be to offload pick 3 for Ben King.

Lever would make a fine captain. Level headed bloke, reads the game well, speaks very well, he would be worth listening to if he spoke up among the group. I think he is an absolute stand out as a potential leader for the MFC.

Omac spent a lot of time forward as a junior. Considering the switch has been beneficial to Petty, its worth a shot to see if it could help Omac. Plus, it worked for Tom Mac to some degree. Not tanking just tinkering around during a year thats already lost. I hope we do rest players now. I wouldnt be risking any players even remotely sore. No point. Season is done. Look to 2020.

As a ruck, Gawn has had a far superior year than Grundy. Its not even close. Gawn is a pure ruckman, Grundy is just a fourth midfielder who competes in the ruck. Big difference. If the AA was done seriously then Gawn is the only choice.

Given his previous ACL history it was a stupid trade at the time. History has proven it also to be a stupid trade as of late 2019. With a bit of luck we move Mahoney, Viney and Taylor on, and bring in some experts who make better decisions.

We arent getting pick 2 anyway. GC will be handed a PP. The kid will probably go on to be an ice dealer down the track or something - whatever players seem to learn up at that club.

Viney - Cannot knock endeavor Oliver - Big last quarter Preuss - Good back up Fritsch - Turn over merchant Hannan - VFL level player ANB - Delist after season Brayshaw - Lucky we're short (injuries) Petracca - Very good game Harmes - Solid and consistent McDonald - Looked different player Weideman - Was clunking some (good sign) Hibberd - Past used by Salem - Great as always Frost - Had good patches Petty - Shows good signs

Too many passengers. I thought Carlton did alright today though. They showed fight.

That was pathetic by Hannan. Just dumb football. -

Never seen a player turn the ball over so much as Brayshaw has today. -

If every player in our side was fined for turning the ball over going inside 50 - they'd be playing for nothing. Salem would be the only player with coin. -

Be worth getting Diesel Williams down to the club. Gawn's taps are going to waste. Brisbane are just sharking them. -

Sh*t umpiring. The umps kept Brisbane in that till they evened up. -
Really good to see us lower our eyes today - especially going inside forward 50. I am at the point now where I wouldn't even care if we had lost - so long as we are making an effort to address our short comings. I saw that effort today. Well done Simon Goodwin for shaking things up and trying something different. It is the only way we will improve.

Lockart has started very well

Well done May.

Freo know how to drop to the knees. I give them that.
-
Get both of them - one on each wing. They are both exactly what we need. So long as we hold our first pick, I would be all for us getting Brad and Stephen Hill. I would even propose trading Angus Brayshaw and our second round pick, for Brad Hill and Freo's first round pick. Although, I don't think Freo would be silly enough to do that. Might be able to get a future first off them though.

A lot of players get into gambling through horse ownership and spring racing. Then the multis start, and away they go. Its hard to curb gambling when you haven't got any coin, so I can imagine it would be ten fold harder when you have money to waste. In addition, many AFL players have too much time to spare after training, many of the younger players - without nagging wives who control their money - have no real urge to save money. The pressures of social media probably depress players who are then more likely to become problem gamblers. I think its a real issue for the AFL. Perhaps the AFL should survey the VFL players if they want a reasonably accurate read on the situation.

Parish is neither great on the inside or outside. He is solid at both, but not great enough on the outside that we need him. We have superior inside mids to Parish. If we want outside run and polish then Parish isn't our answer. If we don't throw away our first rounder we should actually use it on finding someone with outside run, polish and effectiveness, like Rozzee. We may have missed that boat but no reason we cannot try acquire talent through the draft.
