Too many passengers tonight. Lucky our stars are improving, we will need them too, as they all share the load of carrying the rest of these spuds.
-
Its beyond pathetic.
-
Retire him next week. He is past it. Turnover merchant we don't need. We have enough of them.
-
I've been saying that for years. We give away goals in the last minute of most quarters. Its unforgivable. Costs us many games. We have some real talent at our club. But we have a coaching staff who selects absolute spuds, players who cannot kick and execute. As someone who knows the game, I find it completely baffling. We pay the price. Even as fans we hurt.
-
Game over. Can't carry liabilities in the league anymore. We have some terrific players, some real A graders. But they get dragged down by spuds who shouldn't be named. Meanwhile Harmes sits in the sheds. He'd run circles around most this lot.
-
Have to hit these King boys like a sledge hammer. Its the only way to deter them. They are too athletic.
-
Big footy is an extremely unreliable source.
-
Harmes has already proven himself in the midfield. He is a B grade midfielder and a very capable mid - good skills, balance, tenacity, he pretty much has it all as a midfielder (underrated). I think its the fact he has good attributes, that he is able to be tried elsewhere, as opposed to Viney and Brayshaw, who can only be played in the middle. He isn't dissimilar to Hamish Hartlett at Port, who could play midfield, but due to Port's full time mids, he gets played off half back. Harmes is in a similar position now. So he will need to embrace his new position, and try and find a way to make it work, otherwise, he is trade bait. He may want to actually leave if he sees himself solely as a midfielder though.

Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?
KingDingAling replied to Bizzell Blitz's topic in Melbourne Demons
If we could land Hogan cheap, sure. I would love to see him injury free, and getting a run at it on the wing. He would be a nightmare match up, and can hit targets - which is a need for us. I would trial him on the wing, and if that didn't work I'd use him as a third defender. I don't think playing forward suits him these days, there is too much pressure, and you can tell by his body language that he takes it all personally. Terrific player. Hogan will only have a good end to his career if he plays in the red and blue. He needs the stability we bring. During his time at the club, in the latter stages it was difficult for him, yet he still handled himself really well - considering. I think we are the only fit. I'd take him in a heart beat. -
Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?

Played juniors as a defender. I saw him playing as a defender in the Nationals at some stage. I know this because I remember telling a mate he was the best young defender since Michael Hurley. -
If Bradtke was fit I'd debut him. I say that never even seeing him play. But based on the fact that we have no one to ruck and Gawn needs a rest not to be rushed back.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRAYDON PREUSS

If Gawn keeps up his form, he will go down as the best ruck in the history of the game. He is that dominant. Good player all around the ground. Good to see Jennings put him into the conversation with the greats. He isn't there yet though.

Brayshaw would possibly land us a late second rounder. I'd do it too. Absolute liability. Turnover merchant and game day jogger. No desperation. Doesn't want it enough. Might be ok in a better coached side.

Kozzie Pickett's no-stat highlights reel
KingDingAling replied to Little Goffy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Cannot wait till he fills out a bit. Will be a wrecking ball. Has a nice blend of hardness, explosiveness, with a touch of class. Plays on instinct. I can see why we gave up so much to get him. I personally wouldn't have, but it may be a really good outcome for us. Kid looks super, already compliments our side. It was a needs fit that is immediately paying dividends. He is our desperately needed Liam Patrick. -
Cody Weightman (Drafted by Western Bulldogs)
KingDingAling replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pickett has far better defensive pressure. He is running blokes down out of sight, creating opportunities for us - his presence alone creates fear in backman, and can result in turnovers due to anxiety (that isn't a stat). We definitely chose the right bloke. Pickett is already a jet, and already makes our side better. Weightman is going to take time. Looks like a good pick considering where he was taken. Could be a player for the bullies. Doubt he will have a better career than Pickett though. -
One of the best games I have seen from Oliver was last weekend. Finally he lowered his eyes and started hitting targets, held onto the footy and taken blokes on - which freed up the next link, which helped us with our spread. Someone clearly got in his ear, he can be so much better - more effective - than he has been. Oliver is highly rated but needs to ignore the outside hype and just focus on how he can improve his game to make us better. Oliver's improvement last weekend was real shining light for us. Viney has shown over the years how he can adapt and shift his game to fit the occasion, Brayshaw also has (he is just out of form and needs to adjust again), Petracca is an improving type, and now Oliver is shifting his game to less wasteful, and more effective. Really good signs for our club. I think we could go close this year. Next 5 years we are in a window.

Brayshaw is just a bog average football player. Slow by hand and brain, sloppy by foot, just a real liability. I'd package up a pick to send with him if that meant a team would take him and his contract off our hands.
-
He looks ok, he just needs to clunk his marks. Get to the right spot, and has a red hot go, which is good for our crumbing forwards. But it would be good to see him hold a few more marks, and really assert himself on the game. I think he is capable. Definitely still developing, will make a nice forward. Collingwood would have their eyes on him, as we have done all the development, and Weideman actually looks pretty capable.

Racial Vilification of Harley Bennell
KingDingAling replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
The AFL and online platform services need to go hard. I'd hate to see the Government involved in law changes just because of select behaviour from a very small minority of individuals (who may not even be from this country). -
By periods you mean a large majority of the second quarter. Not a lot to show for our dominance. At one point GC had only 5 forward 50 entries for 2 goals.
-
Never wait on the umpires to pay our club a free kick.
-
The amount of play we have had this quarter we should be 7-8 goals up.
-
There should be a rule, if our midfielder have nothing on offer, hold onto the ball and draw players until there is something on offer. Just rushed players. If you're going to play chaos ball at least teach your players to hit targets and not just bomb.
-
We sold our future for this defense. GC can just stroll in whenever they like. 5 forward 50 entries by them for 2 goals this quarter. Lucky our midfield is actually working hard, even if it just hacks it up in the air.
