  1. That is true. But if this draft is deep, and granted there are many key position players early on - Taylor could have a quality mid in store at 23 and 28. Who knows? But he is in the position to do so now. Our needs are met. Taylor can afford to waste a couple picks on footballers who get passed up. If the draft is deep, I am thinking Sloane, Parker and Beams type players. Well built footballers who could immediately make an impact.
  2. That is brilliant. I love Hogan, but clearly he was homesick and plagued with issues not of his doing (father, etc). I hope he has a good career. I would love to see him in the red and blue again. He is the only high profile player we've lost that I genuinely hope does well at his new club.
  3. I am not over the moon about May, I will admit. But, at the same time, we did pick the eyes out of last years draft (somehow), and we aren't exactly in dire need for pick 6. So we get May, KK and 23. I am a big wrap for KK. Worried about concussions, but he could still be anything, and could play on the wing or rotate with Salem and Fritsch anywhere from wing to back flank and even midfield. Its a good get. Pick 23 is a good pick in the hands of Jason Taylor. He picked Fritsch and Spargo last year, and they would both clearly go higher if that draft was re-done again today. We looked after Hogan with this trade. I think that leaves the door open for a return should things go pear shape for him in WA.
  4. I like the KK pick. I was a massive fan of him pre-draft. He is a special talent IMO. I am worried about the concussions though, mainly because he is cut from a different cloth to Gus Brayshaw. With Brayshaw you know he'll play regardless of receiving more. With Kolodjashnij I suspect another 1 or 2 and he is done. Different temperaments. I like the pick though. Its steak knives, but the reward could be significant. I am a massive KK fan. He is silk.
  5. I don't know, but last year we picked Fritsch and Spargo. If that draft were done again Fritsch would go top 10 easily. Taylor is a gun, he is the biggest asset to our club. He has an eye for talent.
  6. Hogan is a gun. I never thought he was a forward though. Always thought he'd make a better CHB or FB. But, he doesn't strike me as the type of kid who wants to play down back. I reckon that may have been part the reason why we were keen to move him on. Either way, 6 & 23 is unders. But Jason Taylor works with whatever these muppets leave him. He will make 23 work. He is that good.
  7. I don't know whats going on with Kolodjashnij. He has all the skill and talent in the world, but he is very tentative. It may stem from concussions, but he looks like he doesn't want to play football. Maybe it is the Suns and footy wasn't fun. But he is an insanely gifted football player and athlete. If he lived up to his junior talent he'd be a top 5 player for us. Nothing I have seen this year suggests he will even make our best 22 though.
  8. Doesn't mean we should overpay just on needs. We were told last year we needed Lever, so we decided to overpay. We overpaid for an unproven lock down defender with an ACL history - who didn't set the world on fire and then did an ACL. Now because we give away this years (and last years) first rounder for Lever, we are trying to offload Hogan and get May - another player we apparently need because of our defense. I could not make this sh*t up if I tried. What world are these space cadets living in when they want to offload Hogan for Steven May? All because they overpaid for Lever. I bet these hero's in charge that everyone applauds didn't even mention Lever's ACL history to Adelaide and tried to bargain down. Just like when we traded a second rounder for Melksham only for us not to factor in a WADA ban and have Melksham sit out for a year. These guys are amateurs. And on top of that anyone wanting to offload a player the quality of Jesse Hogan, essentially in exchange for Steven May, well, they have rocks in their head and they need to be removed from their post ASAP.
  9. We tried to rush Freo. It seems as though they are in no rush. Bell might be learning on the job and making some simple errors, but if he isn't in a rush then he'll do a good job for them. Freo are holding off for a good Neale deal, and so they should be. Once that is through they will probably offer us unders for Hogan at the last minute, and I suspect we will take it - just to get May (which is stupid). If we end up straight swapping Hogan for May then it would be the last straw for whoever is in charge, especially after the Lever debacle last year.
  10. Hopefully the Hogan trade doesn't eventuate.
  11. Good. I hope he does. I watched Hogan as a junior and immediately knew he was the best key back since Hurley. Currently we are screaming out for a key back. The answer is slapping us right in the face.
  12. Bulldogs are a suitor. That is why they are moving Adams onto Brisbane. I expect the May to Bulldogs deal to be finalised by Tuesday at the latest.
  13. Which presumes that the football department is correct EVERY SINGLE TIME. The football department doesn't get it right every time. With that in mind of course posters should question them. I would be surprised if Mahoney and Viney didn't question each other. You seem to be the only one who doesn't understand this. Pretty basic stuff. Not rocket science.
  14. Same. That is why I am glad this deal has fallen through. Hogan is a far better player than May, and has far greater upside than May. Thank god Freo have stuffed this deal. We probably would've give pick 5 for May, which essentially means we'd get May and 23 for Hogan. That would be a poor result. Hogan is worth far more than that.
  15. 5 and 23 is a credit to our football department for their willingness to take unders in order to satisfy Hogan's desire to return home. It sounds like we did all we could on our end. We put Hogan's wishes ahead of the clubs needs. When contract time comes we can only hope Jesse factors that gesture in.
  16. Passing up the opportunity to land Hogan, and overseeing the departure of Neale - pretty much puts paid to any chance Fyfe may of had of tasting success in his career. Sandilands will depart at the end of next year, and with no guarantee Darcy will make it as a ruckman, that could very well leave Lobb to carry the load. Freo will still need key backs and forwards. Hogan is probably the last home grown forward to fit their need, and they just passed up on him for a reasonable deal. It is just a disaster for Fremantle IMO. If I were Fyfe I would be asking for a trade this week.
  17. If calling 'worth every penny we spent on him' doing an ACL and sitting on the sidelines, then yeah. He had a prior ACL history, we paid overs, then he did his ACL in his first year at the club. Those are the cold hard facts. It backfired on our great football department, and this is more to the point I was trying to make to the other poster (Moonshadow), who ridiculously suggested that posters shouldn't question our football department, which is a brain dead statement to make. It presumes that the football department gets it right every time, which it doesn't. The Lever trade is a perfect example of that.
  18. I wouldn't take Scully back and I doubt he breaks into our midfield. He is a shocking kick. Good on Scully for cashing out at the Giants because he didn't achieve much there. Maximised his career earnings and has probably got the most out of himself, even though he has achieved little. He just wasn't very good in the first place. He has sh*t skills and no poise. He is always rushed. We dodged a bullet.
  19. Had our great FD not sold the farm for a 3rd up back with an ACL history (who subsequently did an ACL in his first year at the club), then maybe we would already have May this year. FMD!
  20. He is being massively overrated. What has Steven May ever done to warrant MFC parting with a first round pick?
  21. Hopefully Freo pulling out of the Hogan trade means we don't get May.
  22. So we've told Freo if Hogan does seek a trade, that picks 5 and 6 will get this deal done. Obviously Freo will baulk at that, and won't give up those picks, and we will most likely come to an arrangement of picks 5 and Freo's 2019 first round pick. That would be a good deal for Hogan. I can't see Fremantle making the 8. They should still be bottom 6-8.
  23. The most sensible idea yet. The only trouble with that is GC are falling apart and there is a bidding war for May. Our 2019 first round pick would be overs, but GC would ask for Fremantles 2019 first round pick, and based on our prior drafting history we'd probably give them both. I think we should keep clear of May as he is being massively overrated at present. He is barely worth a second round pick to my eye. I think if we are going to stuff around with the likes of Steven May then we should've just kept Pederson on our list, as there is not much difference in the two.
  24. If we somehow manage to get both 4 and 5, then taking them to the draft is an absolute no brainer. Rankine and Walsh are exactly what we need. It might be possible to get both. That would be an insane result. I hear talk of Steven May, but I think if we wanted a similar player we'd of kept Pederson on. I don't see much difference in the two.
