  1. He can play but he has been concussed a lot. He is probably a knock or two from giving it up. We aren't talking about a kid with the mindset of Angus Brayshaw, who wouldn't give it up even if he copped more knocks. Brayshaw is stubborn. Kolodjashnij is cut from a different cloth altogether. He is hesitant. I watch him. I watched him as a junior. He has great skills and elite movement, he is a very graceful mover. But, he is just a knock away from giving it up IMO. I'd be prepared to give up a 3rd round pick but nothing more.
  2. Morgan was a speculative pick at the time. It was a pick that surprised nearly everyone. He was touted to go late in the draft. We certainly wouldn't have selected him. We would've been as much chance to select Sam Menegola or Tom Phillips. Who really knows who we would have taken. Looking back in hindsight is pointless. But I will acknowledge the likelihood of us drafting a player who is having as much imput as Melksham has had - is very unlikely. We pulled the right reign.
  3. In a strong draft (first round especially), no way. Steven May is worth stuff all. He isn't much chop.
  4. I think to agree. He will strengthen Casey, that is about it.
  5. Obviously Gary Pert didn't want Caro there. Very clear cut. I don't hear much about Pert, but assuming he is still at our club then I suspect he does not want Caro there. I would be very surprised if he did welcome Caro. She has spent the best part of the 5 years sh*t canning him, and implying things without evidence. MFC is not a democracy where everyone is welcome to come to our functions and sh*t can our staff, make up stories and destabilise our club. Whoever made the call that Caro was banned, good on them. My full support. I want her - and anyone else who criticises us - no where near our club. The media in this country are beyond pathetic and no serious organisation should give them a platform to spew hate.
  6. Good on Gus. He had a great year. Well deserved top 3 finish.
  7. Pretty sure he has 1.2 million reasons a year why it isn't a bad idea.
  8. We have all waited for Jesse to become a good player, and he is a good player, in fact, he is better than a good player. But if reports are right then Hogan has 1.2 million a year to weigh up. Its not that the decision is out of our hands - it isn't. But that offer is something we can't even nearly match when Hogan is out of contract. Do we want to deny the kid a life changing payment for our short term benefit? I don't think we do, and I don't think we benefit a lot. The situations evens itself out in the short, medium and long term when you factor in draft picks - our ability to move them around - and salary cap space. We may actually be better served moving Hogan on, and he may be better served taking the 1.2 million a year. This could be a win/win for both parties.
  9. If reports are correct and Fremantle are offering Hogan 1.2 million a year, then obviously Hogan has something to think about. Even if he didn't want a trade, those are the type of number that change an individuals life. Lets be fair. Everyone of us in Hogan's position would be looking at those numbers and weighing up our future. He probably takes the deal. I say that because I would take the deal, and everyone I know would take the deal. Throw in a potential to go back home and it becomes an easy decision. So Hogan probably goes. What do we get? I would really hate MFC to waste anything on Steven May. I have watched football for 30 years and if Steven May is worth anything better than a 3rd round selection I will eat my hat. He is an undersized backman, who is slow, an ineffective. I see nothing in May at all. I have watched him closely the past two years because for some reason people mention him as a top class backman. He isn't a top class backman at all, he is really not much chop. I would have him on par with Pederson.
  10. May is slightly better than Pederson was.

I hope we make a big play for Kelly this year.
  12. If May is involved. The only way I see this trade happening is. GC - Out: May and 1st round pick In: Neale and possibly Freo 2nd rounder MFC Out: Hogan In: May and GC 1st round pick Freo Out: Neale and 2nd round pick. In: Hogan
  13. I think that is a pretty reasonable post. If Hogan did want to leave its not a bad thing. I suspect he doesn't and then we look towards acquiring some outside speed by other means. The good part of that is that somewhere - either on an AFL list or state list - there is that player we need. It is just a matter of identifying them (and hopefully getting them on the cheap).
  14. Brayshaw had an insane last half of the year. I had him in my supercoach all year and he deserved his votes.
  15. Mitchell seems pretty humble.
  16. Take Gawn out of the ruck and throw him forward.
  17. This is why I was banging on and on about making the 4. Once we missed the 4 it was up to luck. Unfortunately for us we drew West Coast over there. I lived in WA for a decade and I knew this game was always going to be mission impossible. Next year we need to make the 4 and play these finals at the G. That is the only way. I think the only side I have seen in my time that could win today is the Brisbane side of Voss, Black, Aker and Lappin. Perhaps Essendon's 2000 side as well.

It would be tempting to move Hogan on for Freo's 2018 and 2019 first round pick. Then use that 2019 pick (along with our 2019 pick) to make a play at Kelly at the end of next year, unless, he is a free agent. Kelly is exactly what we need. He is the missing piece.
  19. This playing group has done such a great job. It would be fantastic if we could win today but West Coast at home is a tough gig. I am actually glad we go in as underdogs, and if we win today we will most likely go into next week as underdogs. That is perfect for us.
  20. There is a winner and there is a loser but you have to be there to take part. If we do manage to make the grand final there is a possibility we could lose. I still want us there regardless. Plus, I think we could really trouble Collingwood. They had a lot of players tonight who played out of their skin - guys like Aish, Maine, Cox, Goldsack, etc. I have never seen these guys play like that and it is unlikely they all repeat that performance. If Collingwood were a race horse I'd say they may have just run their Grand Final and now would be a good time to send them out for a spell. Unfortunately for Collingwood there will be no spell, especially if we get there because we have been building, this would be our Grand Final and peak performance.
  21. Goodwin is better prepared. He looks fit and he is obviously meticulous and diligent. Dew's size is perhaps a reflection of his lack of preparation. He looks sloppy. As a player I personally wouldn't respect a guy of that size. He is coaching a professional and elite football team. A bare minimum requirement at his age are that he should be at least in shape. Others may disagree with that.
  22. It will be very tough to beat West Coast over there in a final. Collingwood couldn't do it. If we do manage to do it we will trouble Collingwood - especially if they go in as favs and us underdogs. It would be the perfect storm for us. Just to sneak into the Grand Final and pinch it. The harder game is tomorrow. I have lived in WA and they are one eyed and it will take a massive effort to win tomorrow.
  23. Nah, we want Smith to be fit. He is tracking along nicely, but he isn't anywhere near ready for a WA final. Fritsch is obviously injured. There is no way in hell you drop Fritsch for Smith barring injury, there just isn't. So I hope Bayley is ok and comes up ok for the Grand Final.
  24. His shoulder wouldn't have prevented him from running and keeping ready. I would include Vince ahead of Tyson just incase we do want to switch up the tag or incase a player goes down. Vince is more versatile than Tyson, and can tag and play down back. It gives us more versatility and better options should a player go down in any position.
