David Neitz. On footy classified tonight

That's the biggest and most emotional news I've seen on us all year. Probably since Danners leaving...

Neitz was my first favourite player and the first I met in person.

The fact that he has only 9 round at best in the re and blue is a huge thing...

Lyon "How does it feel after the AFL kicked the MFC in the guts?"

Farken Carro jumps in ans says not it was a constructive meeting and out come

Lyon jumps her and says no it wasn't it was a kick in the guts...

Neita "It really hurts but we need the people (aupporters) to get behind the club, to be around we as the club (players, coahces, admin) need to stand up and sort it out as well. It hurts like hell but we want it to be better than where we are."

Always a bit light on for actual details on how things are being fixed and the next steps and signs we can see a light at the end of the tunnel but he is hurting, we are all hurting and we need to keep behind the club...

That was very hard to watch.

I feel for Neita, for where he is at with his form, his body, his career. He doesn't want to leave a sinking ship, but how he finds the strength to keep going I just don't know. It's his love for this club that gets him through, surely.

He is an absolute champion, and we are lucky to have him involved at any capacity. It will be a very very sad day when he finally says goodbye, and hopefully he gets the send off that he truly deserves (and all of our weak supporters turn up to actually bid him farewell!!).

Here here! When he said he wanted to be seen as being part of turning us around towards the end of the season when he can get back I got chills then...

Good good man to be leading our club till the end of the season

Hopefully the QueenC can drop the link tomo for those who want to watch the man in action.

ps fark you Hutchy, fark you right in the ahnus with a pitchfork. You offer to many opinions based of half facts and half truths for mine then true and push agendas of your own.. ie loose the bounce.

neita looked like he was holding back tears the entire time... you could hear in his voice how emotional he was... can't do anything but love the big fella...

said he just wants to get his body right, finish off his career on a positive note, and leave the team in a healthy condition...

Little concerned about the body getting right, if they met a specialist in Feb and they said not much can be done about it, you won't be hurt further just lost of pain when it gets knocked in certain ways... 8 weeks will make it better?? I hope so.

And the question still remains will he have to regain form at Sandy or come straight back in at Bails 100%?

Just watching Fox Sports News and they said that David Neitz has actually announced his retirement........

Neita said he'll retire at the end of the year, which is hardly earth-shattering news.

Bloody journalists. Get off the [censored] you monkeys!

No surprise to hear Neitz is retiring at the end of the year, but it's good that the speculation is out of the way (now we get the captaincy speculation instead).

I thought it was interesting to hear that Neitz was still part of DB's plans, as some on this board have felt that he shouldn't be getting another gig this year.

(and all of our weak supporters turn up to actually bid him farewell!!)

Your continual slagging off of our supporters just serves to reinfoce the pathetic media-driven stereotype of MFC supporters that (almost?) reduced you to tears last year. It's been going on since the preseason, so maybe it's time to direct that anger somewhere else ;)

Don't take it so personally (unless you feel you should <_< ).

I'm not refering to most Demonland supporters, but to the thousands of people who didn't renew their membership from last year. The thousands more who stay at home every single week instead of coming to cheer on the side. The thousands more still who claim to be Melbourne supporters but have never given the club a cent of their money or a minute of their time.

I know at least 10 Melbourne 'supporters' who fit this description, and I have told them many times that they should reconsider their title as 'supporters' if they are not willing to give anything to the club.

If you don't agree with me that these people exist, and that these people are contributing significantly to our off-field problems, than I suggest you open your eyes. Oh, and it is those people who drive the media stereotype of Melbourne supporter, not those of us who try to make them accountable!

Connolly said Neitz would continue to work with rookie senior coach Dean Bailey.

"I have never come across a player who loved his football club or would do more for his football club than David Neitz," Connolly said. "He is the most passionate club man I think I've ever met."

I make no apology for any comments Ive made on his form. .even he (DN) would probably agree; but one would hope that all attempts wil be made to keep this guy on board at the club next year in some sort of role.

Hopefully his passion and love for the game will rub off on the new recruits

After sustaining a torn ACL in the final match of the 2023 season Jake added a bit to the attack late in the 2024 season upon his return. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

2024 Player Reviews: #5 Christian Petracca

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury.
