Did anyone see the last quarter of the Lions match?

Their win can be descibed in two words - Travis Johnstone. He was the only player we had with any skill. That's been proved in 4 rounds this year

I know only one player wanted to keep him at the club last year, so why didnt we keep him and get rid of the others. I'll be barracking for him when we play the Lions. And if any of you others out there 'boo' him, well 'LOOK OUT'

And another thing - a lot of people are talking up James Frawley on the website. Have a good look at yourselves. You have got to be kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is that you Travis?

get over it seriously, he needed the move himself to play well.

I have moved on, you have to also.

I was happy we got rid of him for a number of reasons and i expect a lot more to go at seasons end.

I have moved on - just ironic that's all. I hope he plays in a premiership.

I have moved on so far that I've moved to the Storm lol

All the 41 other MFC players must be wishing they were the ones traded to Brisbane.

A trade that may one day prove fruitful, but right now it just seems we've given the Lions a nice old gift. The blokes a class act. End story.

Yeah, a real class act.

Talented but extremely lazy player plays well in first year at new club. Stop press!

This has happened a million times before with players like him. Come back and ask me about Travis next year or the year after.

johstone is a gun we should of traded soft as pie bruce before him... i hope he cuts us up as well... absolute gun and will continue to deliver the ball down browns throat all season long... ive only watched bits of their games but ive seen at least half a dozen times where he has hit brown perfectly on the lead....

hope to see them in finals to watch travis carve up september again:) ahhhh memories of that essendon final in 2005 and the adelaide semi in 2002.... how good was he

Johstone is an overated down hill skier of the highest proportions and we were like bandits to get pick 16 for this bloke. So he is going to a side that wins one, loses one. His first games have been inconsistent and he played well on the weekend.

please tell me what has changed?

Matthews will get frustrated with him soon enough. He is on a high at the moment.

what was it again, a top 10 B and F finish on 1 or 2 occasions was it?

Will get 3 or 4 BOG and lose Brisbane games with his total lack of defensive skills and softness.

The first of a few to go !!

Teams weren't exactly queuing up to get him either. Apparently nobody inside Victoria wanted to go near him. Pick 16 was daylight robbery IMO.

TJ wasn't traded because of his ability (or lack thereoff), he was traded because of his attitude (and other personal issues...)

Pick 14 maybe?

Maybe we should be happy for Trapper? He has the opportunity to play in a team where all the hard work will be done for him by Black, Power etc. and he will not have to contend with a tagger. He has found his perfect role. His talent was a waste at Melbourne because he wasn't capable or prepared to do the hard work.

Carve up September???

While Johnstone played well in the games you mention, Melbourne did lose both of those games.

I tend to agree with Nasher, pick 14 was a great result for the Demons.

who cares how well he played, even if we had travis we arent going to win a flag anyway...the only way to a flag is to have quality youngsters coming through...travis gave us Jack Grimes so its a start. just wish Bruce and Green were also traded, not because they are bad players or anything but because they had value.

It would have been much better to have traded Bruce for pick 14, and keep Travis around so we at least had someone that can play some damaging footy

Travis work hard and play damaging football in an MFC side that is under the pump? I'd like to see that.

A class act that never reached his potential in 10 seasons and had the personality of a dead calf.

I think trading Travis was a mistake as he was clearly the player on our list most capable of executing DB's game plan using his precision foot skills. As we have all witnessed this year this area of our game is the one most lacking and has resulted in countless turnovers and easy goals for the opposition.

I thought DB should have put Travis on notice that his position in the team was at risk if he didn't get fit and focused! He should have been given one more year to prove his worth as Daniher was clearly incapable of getting the best out of him. Yes the risk is that had we waited another year he would have lost currency in the trade. But the upside is that he would have had at least one player capable of hitting a forward's chest with the pill as opposed to the crap we are currently witnessing.

I will watch Jack Grimes career with much interest!

I was also sad to see Travis go, but I'm glad we received a high pick for him. Having said that however, I doubt he would have had much influence in any of this years games & results.

I think & hope He'll turn out to be a matchwinner up there for the Lions, & hope he wins a flag in the next 3 years.

Hopefully it'll be a WIN/WIN for him & JACK GRIMES.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
