Probably best they say nothing !! as what they utter is of a similar ilk to their footy...cr@p !!

That is rubbish. Sure skill errors cost us badly, but you do not get thumped by that margin when your effort and intensity are adequate. The failure to acknowledge that the effort wasn't good enough kills me more than anything. Robertson is an idiot. He's very good at pretending to make the effort and do the team thing - he'll fly for the mark, and then flop around on the ground like a stricken fish while the ball remains in dispute. He's kidding himself, and it looks like he's not on his own. Skill errors alone would have seen us beaten by maybe 6 goals. NOT 104 POINTS.

This is by far the biggest problem at our football club!

[censored]-weak performances go hand in hand with [censored]-weak excuses down at Melbourne.... And for Robbo to say that Dean Bailey has told them to put the game behind them and concentrate on next week is so scary it hurts!

They should be made to watch that pathetic [censored] all week! The shirking of contests, the pulling back when in physical danger, the lack of intensity, the lack of talking, the lack of 2nd and 3rd efforts..... and by far the biggest thing to point out to the players..... The fact that wearing the Red 'n Blue has to be earned!!

Dean Bailey has been given a task that not many blokes in the country would be envious of.....

Let's just hope he rips [censored] outta the leadership group and sends a few blokes home from training feeling a little less of a man and more of a boy who needs to hit puberty!!

Robbo mentioned how the players need to believe in themselves - I think that is and will continue to be the main issue.

What concerns me most about those grab quotes is reference by Miller to inexperience whereas yesterday the older players in the side were equally as bad, if not worse because of the lack of leadership shown by them. In all honesty everything went wrong and there is no need to go through point by point.

I suppose with the media there though they have to say something. All that should have been said was along the lines of "it's wasn't good enough, we apologise to the members/sponsors and we will put it right".

Even Robbo's explanations were half hearted like the play on the field. There was no fire in his eyes to show he meant any of what he said, it sounded like he was reading a prepared script and didn't believe a word of it.

If you're going to have a press conference and trott out passe, irrelevant, prepared rubbish at least look like you believe it and look like you think things will change next week ffs!

We can handle losses, we can handle a lost season if we see a red hot effort by all 22 people on the field and by all in the media, not the rubbish we have served up this past week. Bails we're behind you but stick it up these blokes!

Meh.

No different then the rubbish we were hearing last year during the 9-loss start.

"We're hurting too." "We need to improve." "Don't write us off."

Sylvia joined the recovery session – what was he recovering from? Maybe I should not ask.

On a serious note however, these press conferences annoy me. Players face the media and what value is there in it apart from a story for the media on how the losing team will turn it around. Personally I would prefer nothing to be said and the players to use their actions on Saturday as their reply to the loss. Rules stipulate you have to do press conferences however.

If you saw Robbo's interview he looked shattered and embarrassed. People assume that the players don't give a sh%$ becasue we lost so badly. They're hurting and embarrassed, for the simple fact that at this point in time everyone thinks they are sh*& footballers.

How would you feel if someone flat out said that you are terrible at your job? You'd feel like crap, regardless if you like your job or not. At least they can go out next week and beat the hell out the opposition (within the rules of course).

They are footy players, they are proud.

Egos have been hit and they read the papers like we all do.

They should have a dip this Saturday.

That's pathetic.

Players shouldn't have to redeem themselves cause it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

How many times have we heard that? Being absolutely pantsed and MFC players saying we'll have to redeem ourselves.

IT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPEN IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Yeah well it has. We got pansed because their game plan shot us to sh*&, they have a freak up forward who should have been taken by Richmond (which is the greatest debacle of all), we had blokes who shouldn't have been playing and they simply lost their nerve. What do you want them to do next week? Not lose? All I want to see is hard, accountable, hard running and better skills and a committed team doing their best to win a game of footy.

I agree entirely. This has been a problem forever - no other team loses as badly as we do - we don't have the will to fight it out. Sadly lacking leaders - Nathan Jones excepted..

Looked shattered? he looked like he would rather be any where else than have to explain that insipid display (which is fair enough too).

Where was the fire in the eyes, the brimstone coming from the voice box, the fist banging on the compisite plastic desk he was sitting behind to show us they are going to come out firing?

Show us you mean it, don't just trott out the jargon.

The best teams in the world have games like that. Oh gee last years grand final, Yes I know that was not a very important game for Port.

These things happen, get over it move on or die. Melbourne will "YES WILL" make the finals this year. Leave the knocking to the morons in the press.

now now..and I thought i was a cynic !! lol.. I could almost detect... " gee i hope they dont seek revenge on ITT !! "

Yes...this old guard are full of cliches !! Id be almost prepared to believe them...if only they came off the field after such debacles livid..instead they limp off like lambs... in nice clean shorts !!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
