Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Some players were at training with there new clubs on sunday.

and some clubs fly in private jets home from perth...i dont think that melbourne should make decisions based on what other clubs are doing, but make our own decisions....and the fact that we have people moving to our team from interstate means that it is very hard for them to jump straight in, they are just young kids..some of them are moving into homes and it would be nice for them to pack/unpack and get comfortable before having to go straight to training...btw, i know the host family of cale morton and they have their own private gym so hopefully we will see early improvements on cales strength!!!

I went down for about an hour and I think that two of the new boys were training based on the evidence of everyone was shaking there hand and saying welcome.

When I arrived they did split into two groups one to traditionaly warm up and stretching while the other was very low impact with a lot of handball.

I assume they are not in full training. Bartram, Petterd, Juice, Sampi, Davey, McLean in the second group but were later in all the drills.

There was not a lot to report that with the exception of Junior . It looks to me that Junior is carrying his left (?) arm and only running but is otherwise ok.

Everyone was involved in lots of handball drills and for once I was impressed with there skills. I hardly saw a dropped ball and at some stages there were probably 20 balls going backwards and forwards.

Juice, Bartram and Petterd were all clean handed when they did drills involving both hands and at speed off a net.

When I left they were into kicking drills and that too looked encouraging with none of the sloppiness I remember seeing this time last year.

The fitness guy had a couple of people monitoring heart rates (over heard ranging from 170 to 110) and also distance the ball moved in a given time for each group had some machine set up that recorded it on a computer and he was backwards and forwards to the guys pushing them on.

This was a very organised session (ground was covered in coloured plates for different drills, which they moved seamlessly through ) and, although I liked Daniher, today had a very different feel to sessions I previously attended, I think I might like the new coach better!

Paul Gardner was there for a while and I reckon he would have walked away thinking that it looked and felt like a footy club.

I Would assume that it was Grimes and Maric that you saw there, Anything to report on them?

I don't know which was which but at one stage the bigger one was doing a handball drill with Juice and his skills were ok but compared to newton he looked rushed then I started looking down the row when you compared most to a newton or a davey those guys have all the time as they can handball without skipping to get balanced- hard to explain.

One minor point moloney was training without those heavy "bike" shorts he had on last year and seemed to moving very freely hopefully he is past his OP.

Minor point?

MINOR POINT?!

The rest was interesting, but this gave me a shiver of joy!

Fingers crossed, touch wood, all of that.

Also, no mention of Whelan or Rivers in that recovery group, anyone know if they were there and running free, or just not at training?

Amen man, i'd love Beamer to have a good year, he's had such an unlucky run with injuries. If he can get over his OP i really think he's got a bright future for us.

In fact you are correct Nugget.

Article on MFC site quotes Morton as staying with a host family for the first year.

You do realise that it takes time to move your entire life to the other side of the country, don't you?

I assume one or both of his parents work, they have obligations, probably a house they'll need to sell. So yeah, they might be making the move to Victoria, but they won't be at training tomorrow that's for sure.

There's a story on the MFC website about the last training sesh. Some encouraging words from Mahoney. Makes me all excited!

Michael Newton, Brad Green, Colin Sylvia, Clint Bartram and Aaron Davey were part of an eight-man group that stood off to the side and took part in stationary hand ball drills when the intensity kicked up a notch.

I'm sorry to sound so negative, but it seems as though Sylvia will never actually partake in a pre-season from start to finish.

He is rivaling the great 426 for time spent on the 'not quite right' list.

Yeah I concur- Moving is tough for anyone. I dont know the financial situation of the parent(s) of the draftees. If they are not well off it is hard. Let them take time to move

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
