CAC Interview

Kiss of Death

They just had a quick interview with CAC on the radio - points discussed were that he was very happy to get Cale Morton with pick 4, and the top 4 selections this year are all very good.

Jack Grimes - happy with the decision, great leadership, good runner, and a very versatile player , who he'd like to see enter the midfield eventually. Also a mad Melbourne supporter.

Addam Maric was chosen as he's got a great eye for the goals, and has been able to isolate himself in the goalsquare in junior level - looking for a smart player around the stoppages inside 50.

Kyle Cheney - a strong overhead defender who is as tough as nails, happy with this pick, and finally Tom Mcnamara - tall defender, with good leg speed and strong overhead.

The long pause before passing on pick 73 was caused not necessarily because of Sampi, but because they were considering some u17 players they can't draft in the PSD.

Also mentioned we have selected four AIS graduate players.

Am I missing something or did Gourdis and Gaertner NOT get selected in the draft?

Thats right. Very surprised about Gourdis.

i'm very happy with all those picks.

every one of the guyz we selected were predicted to be selected higher, so we should be stoked.

Rance was available at 14 and ended up at 18, so we didn't pick him...but i think we wouldv been silly not to pick up Grimes having slipped to 14.

Grimes is a safe bet to become a quality afl player. Great work ethic, great at the 1%ers and elite endurance! best of all, great leader and demons supporter.

we have really got some quality in the midfield now. we still need to add to our key position stocks tho...

in the rookie draft i think we should definitely look at Gourdis, Geartner or Kangers...these players are most athletes than footballers at this stage, but with development could become great KPP

it seems we have used the production versus potential theory. Of the main players we picked they have produced on the feild, rather than they have the potential to be a great player. I love the fact that we have done this. Footballers before athletes...

We've picked footballers first and foremost, rather than speculative athletes.

Can someone confirm how many rookie selections we have?

And one of those WA teams will pick him up cheaply in the rookie draft and probably iron out any deficiencies they might have seen in him that stopped him from being picked today.

What's the rookie draft order? is there one, or? Coz i wouldn't mind getting him rookied

id be expecting a ruckman in the rookie draft- Bellchambers perhaps. is a great tap ruckman so hopefully he can improve around the ground.

with White retiring in the next year or two, Jamar [censored], PJ only a backup ruck and Meesan untried, we need to unearth a ruckman.

i'd also be looking at Kangars or Gaertner. true both are shocking kicks, but incredible athletes.

teach them to play and they could be steals. i see Geartner as a tom Williams type...

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
