We won't get 2 first round picks, we'll barely get one the way things are looking.

If Bailey thinks TJ is more harm than good, we'll offload him for a lesser price. It all depends how seriously Bailey is about discarding him.

I wasn't suggesting he is worth two first rounders but rather that he is more than a second rounder as posted.

Johnathon Hay was swapped for two first round picks and you would swap Travis for one second round pick. Not me.

And what a raging success that turned out to be.

There's no such thing as precedent when it comes to trading, clubs get less dumb each year. How many pick #1s have been traded since the Croad disaster?

Mods, you guys do a great job, but i dont understand why these two threads were merged?? One is a YM 'hunch' and the other is a newspaper article about him going to a club on the other side of the country from what YM said. They aren't really related at all. It is a pain to have to scroll through 60 posts especially when half of them are unrelated. I can understand if there are 4 threads with everyone giving their opinion on trav in general but not this ... my two cents anyway

as for the topic at hand. i'd be reluctant to let him go for pick 14. i think a new coach could do wonders with him. anything lower is a definitely no go for me.

I hear what your saying classy, but as others have said, even if TJ does have a good year in '08, theres every chance that he will be dire again in '09. He seems to extract the digit when his contract is up for renewal at season's end, and then in other years he rests on his laurells. I wouldn't take anything less than pick 15 for him, but I would rather get a kid who might well bring a sustained presence to our team in 1-2 years time than have one good season out of TJ (which in all likelihood would be his LAST good season).

Id happily trade Travis for pick 14

But why don’t we do a direct swap for Wood instead.

I think we've committed to Meeson (apparently he's already signed a contract, or near enough), so Wood is probably off the cards.

I would do that deal ASAP. We could then trade Jamar off to a club chasing a ruckman like Pies, Saints, Tigers etc and pick up another pick. When Meesen is cleared we would have White, two youngsters who will improve and PJ as backup. We could then concentrate on best pick at 4 and then some Key Position players with later picks. Miller may go giving us another pick. Grabbing Wood for TJ would force other clubs without rucks to deal for Jamar.

Why? You need ruckmen and Wood and Meesen could carry our load for some years to come. See my previous post.

I have news from a VERY credible source.. and please dont ask me who it is..

BUT.... TJ will be flying to Brisbane today to meet with Leigh Mathews..... if all goes well Brisbane will give us Pick 11.

What we do with Pick 11 i do not know.. but TJ will be a lion if lethal and him have a positive meeting....

IT SADDENS ME... reason being : i know hes a bit inconsistent etc.. but who do we have now in our midfield that can hit a moving target regularly, or hurt teams with there sublime skills...??

i love the demons midfield, dont get me wrong but i think if TJ goes we will lack that little bit of class and his special foot skills!

<_<

I'd much prefer Sydney's pick 11 for TJ. If it took both TJ and Miller to get the deal done, then so be it. Miller is virtually worth nothing to us anyway.

He best plays at CHF, definitely not in the backline. The problem with him at CHF is that he kicks 10 goals a year, max.

Give the Swans TJ and Miller for their first pick (and try and get Buchanan)

Firstly, you Goose, Brisbane do not have pick 11. Sydney do.

Secondly, why would TJ fly up to Brisbane. I'm pretty sure most coaches are at Telstra Dome, and if they aren't, then somebody capable of assessing TJ's character is.

My apologies for the skepticism, but when, with their first post, somebody makes a claim to have some pretty big breaking news, you have to take it with a grain of salt.

It's being reported that TJ arrives back from Thailand today, and has a meeting with Bailey to discuss his future. Geez he'll be a tired boy if he's stopping over in Brisbane to meet the Lions.

Personally, i'd be staggered if Matthews is interested in him given his age and style of play, and even more staggered if they gave up pick 11.

I too would be staggered. If you can trade other clubs picks, why haven't we got in on the act yet?

I would plug Meesan and Wood in the ruck straight away. Hell i would have Jamar and Meesan.

White should be forced to play in a different position. Don't care where (tall mid, KBP) but not the ruck.

The other rumour relating to TJ going to Brisbane was :

Cameron Wood to Collingwood for pick 14.

Brisbane then on-trading pick 14 to Melbourne for TJ.

It's just a rumour I heard. I doubt Cam Wood is worth pick 14, so it could be crap.

Agreed Ash, if Wood is worth pick 14, TJ would be worth at least pick 10.

You may be right, but in the context, think of what Collingwood are prepared to give up. They have plenty of young talent, so draft picks are probably not high on their agenda. However, many will argue that they were a decent ruckman away from a Grand Final and even a flag this year. If I were in that position I would happily give up pick 14 for a promising young ruckman, even though his intrinsic value might be lower.

Absolutely. Collingwood will trade their first pick because they think they already have a capable list, but their ruck division is Fraser, Fanning and Bryan.... quite possibly the worst rucks in the comp. They need a ruckman. They'll trade their first pick to get Wood.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
