Good old trade week. If history's anything to go by, here's what might happen.

Monday - nothing

Tuesday - nothing

Wednesday - nothing

Thursday - nothing

Friday (1:30pm - 2:00pm) - something

I think today was just about Father Son stuff, I think most clubs will have laid their cards on the table, but I believe that the official start of trade week is tomorrow and ends 2pm Friday.

Haha. What trade news? If you picture one of those cartoon moments where there is an awkward silence; nobody says anything, perhaps a cough, a tumbleweed floating past...

That's what Telstra Dome is like in Trade Week.

really? OMG he supported the Demons as a kid so do you think?

Don't say it demonologist... I don't want to get my hopes up

And his mate is a journalist who heard that .....

His girlfriend's sister's boyfriend's uncle had told the guy next doors' wife who passed it on to her cousin's friend's daughter in law who had once been to a football match that.........................

that is all unreliable...i heard on big footy however that chris judd wants to come to melbourne to follow his childhood dream and it is been revealed by hutchy on the footy show tomorrow night

Only trade today that is a definate....

Marty Mattner (Crows) to Sydney....

In return the Crows will probably look at getting the Swans first or second pick.... Most likely their 2nd!!

Either would see Sydney having their pants pulled down. They are a dead-set mystery, Sydney.

disagree.

mattner is a very good player.

clearly Sydney havnt done too badly in their trading. ppl may bag them but they have been in the top 2 teams in the comp in the last 3 years and have won a premiership (1 kick away from 2 premierships).

maybe we should be looking at them for inspiration rather than bagging them, when we havnt been close to a premiership in 44 years

Mattner will fit in well at sydney, pretty quick and can give lots of run off half back and through the middle which is good for the SCG because its small. Kennelly has said that he wants to go back to Ireland at the end of this contract so they may be looking at a replacement

If that happens it'll be our game's loss IMO. That said, I guess it was going to happen sooner or later with some of the imports.

I just find it amazing that Sydney are able to get the most out of not-so-great players. You wouldn't nominate Buchanan, Ablett, McVeigh, Matthews, etc as a premiership midfield unit, would you? But then, there it is, the proof is in the pudding.

When I say they are a mystery I mean that I can't understand why they continue to pick up fringe players. Surely if they can get so much out of the above blokes then they could get even more out of premium players.

As for Mattner, I would have him in the company of those players above. His tackling is good, but I am otherwise unconvinced.

interesting tho. he has come, had fun, won a premiership, made his money, and now he is going back home...im not having a go at him. i think its great. growing up he never would have planned to play sport for a living, given that it is amateur in ireland, but he has managed to make a fortune out of it...i hope he has managed his finances well, he is one of the lucky few who get access to that sort of income...

we have made 2 grandfinals in the last 44 years, and both times we were thrashed by record margins...we have a history of not getting close to a flag.

sydney have a recent history of being a dominant team in the competition (goodes double brownlow also) and have made 2 grandfinals, and 1 premiership

Why would we give up pick 21 when we can just as easily pick him up in the PSD for nothing?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
