Anyone listen to robbo on sen?

Good, he should have taken the two years the bloody sook, now he could end up anywhere, Hopefully at Richmond to get draft pick to secure judd and he can claim the wooden spoon while we march on to september action. I do admire his talent but I think he was a bit cocky and thought he was indisposable. I don't think he thought about it enough, He'll get what he deserves two years or the ass

i love Robbo and always will, but 2 years is what he should be offered. At the end of that 2 yrs he may get another two. But its a business we are in and Melbourne has to play tough. I hope Russell thinks carefully before he makes his decision. 2 yrs with a dodgy knee is fair enough

This is just like the Powell thing and he got the same offer and knocked it back and ended up at the Saints. They should take the two years, play like they mean business next year and it could get extended.. never worked their logic for not taking two years and working on a third by playing a great season. Sure they might not get it extended right away but better chance than ending up a dog!!!!!

I wont go quite as far as to say cocky.. but he certainly failed to take note of the surrounding 'trade' winds blowing through footy at the present.

He seems to be poorly advised. Hes a good 2nd tier player, but has some questions over his fitness. Given his age I would have certainly thought 2 years was a good outcome. Going for broke is foolhardy..

He will rue this for sure. He ought to look for the nearest pen and sign a 2 year if still on offer.

Silly boy

I find the whole situation a little sad really......

I mean Robbo annoys the hell out of me at times on the field with the way he goes about it but he is still Robbo.

And to be honest I was always sure that at the end of the day the Demons meant more to him than he has demonstrated here. Now I will never criticise a player for trying to get the best they can, especially when it is possibly their last contract, but sometimes the reality is what it is, and the club has been bitten previously (Yze and Bizzell spring to mind) and maybe you will just have to earn and work for that extra year. Its not automatic but definitely possible.

If this is the way it is then it is a disappointment given his stature at the club, but if he is traded then hopefully it will go towards securing our future  !!!

Hope you don't really mean he has been poorly advised, he has same manager as Judd.

Why should he just accept a two year deal, he wants three and has been offered elsewhere. If you are 63 yo and under John Howards Work place agreements your employer offers you 2 years but you want three and retire then a competitor has offered you that sercurity of a three year contract you have to consider it.

That is what he is doing, personally you can't hold that against him. On the club side they have every right to only offer him a two year deal and if this is a sticking point and the right trade found I have no problem with Robbo going. It could be a win win for both parties.

got no problem with any of that...its just a reality thing. He's starting next year at 29. Any observer of the game will have a question mark of some size ready for his total fitness. In his siutation most clubs should only offer a teo year contract.

He could resign with the Dees and earn his 3rd year, which would be negotiable on the basis of where he's at then.

Melbourne ARE going places.. much to my surprise the doggies are falling apart !!

still business is business :)

Being one of Danihers favourites he probably still feels a bit upset about it and thats why he is being stubborn about a three year contract. I can't wait to see Bailey in action, seeing him take the glamour out of the team and getting them playing hard tough intense football. Daniher was just to nice and it showed on the field

It might be weird if he sticks around, especially for those who loved him beforehand and have only started paying him out over the last few weeks. (Personally, I'm a seasoned Robbo-payer-outerer  ).

It's like when you break up with your boyfriend and then bag the hell out of them to the world.. and then you get back together.

I give the club my blessings to play hard ball with this, if he really wants to go to another club and he wants to choose where he goes than we tell him "you damn well make sure we get something good for you or we'll let you go into the PSD and go to Richmond or Carlton", if he really cares for Melbourne but wants the security of 3 years then its the least he can do.

Anyone think Carlton would want Robbo and Miller for there third pick. Carlton will need a forward now Kouta and Lappin have both retired and whitnall will get axed, Maybe a fair deal could be made seens they laid down against us to get first draft pick.

No way

Rubbish

If he signs tomorrow for 2 years, all will be forgotten. He has the right to explore other offers

This happens every year with dozens of players

I would have thought at the end of 2 years, when he's 31, or 30 he would be on a year by year thing... unless he kicks 120+ in '08/'09...

I have no problem with that. If he gets 3 years with the dogs good luck to him - just make sure we get something decent in return.

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form
