I was interested to hear Gary Lyon last night on TV mentioning how he will be involved for the MFC in luring Judd to the Demons.

whats everyones thoughts? i think people tend to think Garry doesn't do enuff for us around the club.. well he did help us pick a coach and now he is helping u tryingto lure judd over!!

C'mon Garry show us what u are really made of!!

What is it with people who think Lyon owes the club something?

He has always said if the club needs him he will help, but will not be an ex player hanging around the club like a bad smell.

He does not owe the club anything, he played his heart and soul out for the club, played under immense pain and duress for the club and yes was paid to do so, he does not owe the club 1 little bit!

Wouldn't mind him as an Assistant Coach especially to lure Judd!!

Ahhh i can Dream cant I?

I reckon Garry has jumped on board a lot more now ND has gone, one of his best mates is now Football Manager and he has stated regularly over the last couple of months how much he loves the club and he will do anything for them if they ask him. It was interesting to hear on Monday night how he said he rang Bailey and Connolly to see what they can do. If we don't get Judd it won't be for lack of trying by everyone at the club.

who said he owed the club??:huh:

There's been a fire in Garry's eyes since the coaching process started.

I reckon there was definitley something about Neale he (and others) didn't like.

Just a hunch...

I think Lyon has allways been doing what he can quietly behind the scenes. He has to be seen to be impartial on the box because he's tv image is a serious straight guy type where his balanced veiwpoint is his worth.

He loves the Dees, of that I have no doubt.

Youre not alone in this view.

Garry has to be very careful what he says and does as he is under the scope. This mans heart is redder and bluer than many a person's.

I am sure he does whatever he can covertly and otherwise when not viewed as an interest conflict.

I am sure that should CJ come to Melbourne that garry would personally present him with his new #3 jumper :)

I think you're on the money. Lyon isn't the type to hang around a club after he's left but he loves the Dees. There does seem a spring in his step when he now talks about the Dees.

he did say on footy Classified last monday he'd offer the number 3, "plus his first born" to judd if he thought it would get him, and he was meeting to discuss the matter with the club the next day.

No.

I think part of the process of transition from player to formal player for many is to leave for awhile and things tend to change when there is a major change like new coach as the retired players direct link with current team is less. The Ox has been in a similiar position. Would think both may be more obviously active now.

Partly this is respect for the coach of their time - not to be seen to contradict ND's coaching or mrentoring of players but maybe some personality issues also.

One of CC's action items is to encourage former players back to the club which is long overdue. This is an issue with former players going back to premiership players which is puzzling. Former players around the clubare great for both supporters and current players.

PLEASE don't say things like this, you sound like a bummers supporter. There was NOTHING to dislike about Neale, and to turn on him after he's left is pathetic!

Actually strom you are wrong, people do not always like each other and whether or not lyon and ND liked each other is something we will probably never know.

Whether or not Garry and Neale got along is not really relevant....

I think whatever help/assistance Garry gives the footy club is fantastic! He has a huge workload with media commitments and for him to even spare any of his time is awesome!

I do believe that Garry is genuinly excited about the immediate future of the club and, if asked, would go out of his way to help.....

He will always be a hero in my eyes and people should not underestimate the "pull" that he has around Victoria....

I turned on him when he was here.

I turned on him when he was here.

HAHHHAAHAA

I think he has more involvement at the club than many think. He has a silent relationship and things like this is what we need him for and nothing else. If anyone is going to bring Judd to the MFC, it'll be Lyon.

ND was the coach who told Garry his time was up, same with Ox, now he's gone they will be a lot more pro-active in their support

'i think people tend to think Garry doesn't do enuff for us around the club'

your quote dazzle, what do you think?

'Just a hunch...'

exactly that!

'now he's gone they will be a lot more pro-active in their support'

yeh, i'm sure your on the money.

SIGH!

A lot of the time Gary doesn't say anything about us because he cops a lot of shite on the footy show when he does. Before talking footy ( I think thats the one) when did you see him appart from on the footy show?

Don't Forget ND coached Garry fot the '98 season, so he may have wanted to wait for that connection to finish-I doubt garry and ND disliked each other, but you are right the Lyon Profile has got bigger

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
