TWO MORE GONE FOR THE YEAR

From today's Age -

Ben Holland (Melbourne) shoulder

Dislocated shoulder means the Demon veteran’s season is over.

Daniel Bell (Melbourne) concussion

Took a solid blow to the head while over the ball. Will be assessed this week but likely to be OK for Saturday’s game against Fremantle.

Aaron Davey (Melbourne) hamstring

Hamstring tear will keep the Demon speedster out for the rest of the year.

Despite the injury toll I believe it would be in the best interests of the club and the longevity of the players involved that Neita and Robbo are either placed out to pasture for the remainder of the season. Matthew Bate also truggled with a corkie on Friday night and should not go West unless he's 100%.

Davey also going in for knee surgery.

Given that 5 Demon listed players pulled out of yesterday's Sandy game, and that CJ was named in the best, it would not surprise me in the slightest to see a lot of changes, with many older players taking an early holiday.

Robbo I can understand, but why Neita?

He was in our top 3 best players V Collingwood, and looked as fit as he's been all year.

He is only on 1 leg thats the reason why his kicks are dropping short and are all over the shop. He was in the best cause even a injured neita is better than fully fit midfielders and he always plays up on big occasions. Rest him up for next year!

I think alot of the older players were trying to get up for neitz. Time to put them to pasture for year. CJ will come in for sure. They always throw him in for the subiaco trip, free trip home haha.

The last 2 games of 2007 are of absolutely no importance for MFC & now the 2 milestone games have been achieved make no sense at all keeping not fully fit playesr in the side. Especially Davey with a hammy doing the trip to Subi would be very stupid!

At least Davey, Robbo and Wheatley must be put away for next year.(Last 2 need surgery & the extra 2 weeks between seasons is best value added to their preseason.). MFC should look at anyone else in same situation.

Would be wise to rest Belly for at least 1 week.

Only other considerations are whether any MFC players can qualify to play for Sandy in the finals by playing for Sandy in next week or 2 and whether anyone will play a farewell game at AFL level (Byron, Bizz??). Otherwise give all the kids 2 games!

Got to play these kids rest of season:

Buckley, Garland, CJ, Dunn, Newton, Warnock, Bode etc etc.

Just play every kid under 22. Then pick a few older heads.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
