Its GF day and your not that important!

My wifes step mother got married again on GF day last year and i told them i would not fly to sydney to attend, but it didn't matter i was in Europe anyway.

Ring when you know he is not at home and leave a message telling him you can't stand the cow he is marrying - being a girl, we just have to get to the messages first and that's guaranteed to get you of the list.........

They should have more sense and tough luck if half the guests don't rock up.

Just a SELFISH act! No one is more important than the GF - NO ONE!!!!

Yeah they're friends of my wife - I hardly know them. The groom is from Tassie, a solid footballing state, what was he thinking?

The marriage is doomed - if he hasn't go the balls to stand up to her about the date - it is history already!

Im getting married the week after the grand final. It makes perfect sense to me.

Getting married on Grand Final day is a crime and as Condemned said a selfish act especially if you are born and bread in Melbourne.

Tough spot to be in....

I have been there before though.... 2004 GF and I just told my mate the truth.... Being a bloke he understood.... Although he hates footy (there are a few of these pitiful humans) he is an A Grade cricket captain and I just told him that I would be having my wedding on Boxing Day when the time comes! Of course, this was the biggest empty threat in history!

I ended up rocking up to the reception at 8pm, fell out of a taxi, stumbled in to see everyone well on the way to being smashed, hooked up with a bridesmaid, still together and happy as hell....

The story is one of legend with the boys!

Good Luck :)

Yeah here father had passed away 10 years earlier, we still keep in touch with her step mother.

When i read your reply i realised how wierd that would sound

I had a mate who got married last year on the Friday night of the Prelim weekend, when Sydney played Fremantle. If Melbourne had beaten Freo, then I wouldn't have known what to do with myself as they would've been playing the same night of the wedding.

If Melbourne were playing in the granny and you had the opportunity to get a ticket ..... well I guess you'd have to sacrifice a friendship ;)

totally and utterly selfish act and un-australian too - weddings, reunions, birthdays, engagements of any sort should be banned during the month of september.

My only suggestion was that they need to be friends of your partner to give you any chance.

I missed the 1985 GF for the same reason.

Friends of the wife?

- simple, its her duty to explain your absence.

You just need to catch the game, and meet at the reception later, if that works.

If not, don't worry , you'll either all laugh about it in , say, 15 years, or they may never speak to you agin, in which case who cares anyway.

I'd say it was probably a day noone else had booked a wedding for and it was cheaper as a result.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p

    TRAINING: Wednesday 15th January 2025

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
