PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond

Out: Petty, X Taylor, Heath

In: T Mc, CJ, Lindsay

5 day break and we need run, run, run to keep playing this style.

Would love to get Lindsay back on the wing or can swap down with Langdon if thatโ€™s not helping.

ย

Footy police are trying to suspend Kozzie but letโ€™s not hope that happens or we are in trouble.

X Taylor is unlucky to get dropped but he was only picked because weโ€™re down 5 half back flankers.

His ball use, contest and ball winning werenโ€™t ready to debut, and all things considered he fought really hard to make an impact. Some big tackles and he has the athleticism. But nothing wrong with sending him back to Casey to really earn a debut on form.

Dont drop Taylor.

He didnt do anything wrong and simply played his role. Anyone expecting him to show out today against one of the best forwards in the competition have far too high of unrealistic expectations on him.

Taylor was fantastic I thought.... This guy will [play 200 games for MFC another astute pick up by Taylor, Um regarding Taylor!

ย

Could Kentfield debut and play down back to replace Petty. Has more speed than TMac.

Why Heath OUT ?

Love Max pushing forward and JVR not having to ruck

Give The 2 rucks a bit more opportunity to see what we can do with it

Agree. I loved the coaching move at the start of the third 1/4. Moose starting ruck and Max as a deep forward to make Andrewโ€™s accountable, also frees up Roo and Mihocek.

Taylor does not get dropped

Wouldnโ€™t mind potentially seeing Windsor managed and Lindsay back in.

Combined 19 disposals over the last two weeks for Windsor playing primarily as a centre bounce mid on top of not sticking tackles isnโ€™t exactly cutting the mustard.

Love Windsor and think heโ€™ll be great long term just think we donโ€™t want to run him into the ground

Danger game. We seem to beat the better sides and lose to potential bottom 6 sides.

Go figureโ€ฆโ€ฆand GO DEES!

Edit: Hang on, we are playing at the Gโ€ฆ. no problemo!

You want to put in 2 Casey standard players for Taylor who will play 200 games for us ??? Yeah right!

AMW in? Also Lindsay back after his managed week.

You would imagine Tom Mac for Petty, but it's starting to say something that after all this time we can't turn to Adams.

Unfortunately Adams is a bust, I saw him get totally towelled up a fortnight ago where he had 8 or 9 kicked on him. Um .. he aint the answer!

In response to Cross or Henderson getting a gig

OUT: petty (concussion), laurie
IN: plugger mac, lindsay

be interesting to see if cj is fit whether they bring him straight back in

gotta bear in mind the short turn around too

Lots of factors to consider:

Five day break

There a two who played today only because of injury but boy it would be rough to drop them - Laurie and Taylor.

Who of our injured players will be fit enough to return?

Do we continue with the 2 Max's?

Petty out with concussion.

Too early to be clear abut much of this until Tuesday/Wednesday.

Mcdonald for petty.

Give taylor another go.

Agree. Only change required. Taylor, Heath, Bill & Jeffo need continuity and confidence will grow. TMac for Petty will do me. This team that ran out today whilst stuffed up a few times and skills need improving, you can't discount them having a huge crack.

Also, Heath has to stay. 5-day break and Gawny needs some help.

Bad missed tackle on Charlie in the last playing half back but I actually really like what Windsor gives us at centre bounces and either around the ground stoppages. I think he gives great defensive cover to Steele and Pickett.

Heโ€™s playing fairly low TOG most week (usually around 70%) so hopefully we arenโ€™t overloading him.

He was responding to my ins and outs.

Taylor will be a beauty for us and I'm more than happy for him to retain his spot. However it wouldn't surprise me to see Lindsay slot back into the backline after his week off along with McDonald for Petty.

As for cross or hendo, I was basing that move as a replacement for Heath who only saw 27% game time with Gawn also having his worst game of the year. Another small/medium half forward for extra run.

However Kingy post match said he liked how Heath enabled Jeffo, JvR and Mihocek to stay forward so perhaps he'll keep his spot.

Gave Jeffo praise in his presser as well just FYI.

Forget about dropping Heath the coach mentioned him he won't be dropped it's crazy talk.

So what if he only had 27% game time he was there to keep the forward structure. We don't want Roo rucking and why would if the forward line can function well with Roo, Checkers and El Jeffo.

Heath had only 27% game time. Is it worth carrying a second ruck for that little game time?

Yes. I think this is the perfect use of the 23rd man.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demonsโ€™ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
