GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs Essendon

I can accept losing but what we saw today from this gutless playing group is just an absolute disgrace.

This is an Essendon side on their knees dispatched by every opposition they have faced so far and are equal last with 0 wins and we dish up that kind of [censored]?

They scored 1 in every 2 entries and our structure defensively was absolute [censored]. Our end to end ball transition, specially from stoppage was even worse. McKay was made to look like prime Scarlett today.

What makes matters worse is, Essendon saw us as an easy kill and an “opportunity” after the start we had.

If that doesn’t speak to disrespect or the lack of fear factor Melbourne FC possesses, I don’t know what will. We are still the laughing stock of the entire competition.

Bombers played exactly the same last year with the short kicks and uncontested marks but nothing learnt.

Tmac horrible, too old to be playing every week, been out marked by kids.

Good servant too club, but don't see how it helps us long term, especially when we get flogged by ****less side in comp

Someone please tell Kozzy he is not a top 5 player unless he brings his best week in week out. No matter the opposition, no matter how those around you play.

Add Van Rooyen...incompetent

Who do you think JvR is?

Bombers scoring 50% of the time they are going in. I can't recall us being so poor defensively. 2019 era stuff

Bit harsh, probably only one who can hold head high

336 days since their last win, and we have been kind enough to end that streak!

He didn’t have the [censored] thing to be holding the ball you cheating [censored] umpire

Please moving forward save us the embarrassment. Let's forfeit Gather round. Save a ton [censored] of money to our loyal fanbase.

Let’s hope that this is a wake up moment

2 goals to 11 in second half, that was supposed to be our forte

8/10 top possession getters - dons.

Far from the problem today.

Where is the thread

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records

had a feeling we wouldn’t win, thought we would bring this performance just as we always do in gather round.

Imagine having the chance to go 4-1 and you bring that..

I don't care about Jvrs six goal haul.

Yes sure it was a tremendous start but I'm not sure he's ever going to be the power fwd we all hoped for.

He either steps up now or needs to be dropped. He shows the odd glimpse of complete brilliance but its mainly his mindset.

If we don't get the first Im.ptetty sure it's all over

But what has Fritta done ?

Or Culley,?

Or Brody.

Even Max has taken only one mark.

We were terrible from the get go.

It's painful because Essendon are not a good side and they have destroyed id.

Roo gets dropped for sure.

That six goals went to his head and he fell off the map thereafter.

This is demons of last year 200 %

Can lyon please shut up.

Yeah what is Gary so excited about Traitor (LOL not really)

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
