If you're posting here @Where Demons Dare, i'm assuming you have time on your hands after: 1) submitting your child's membership subs to the Club, and 2) sent off their MCC membership application to the Other Club.

🥳❤️ GAMEDAY! 💙🥳

Longest. Preseason. Ever. EVER!

I had trouble sleeping last night such is the excitement and nervousness that comes with not just gameday but our first gameday under the new order.

A win today means so much more than a regular win, for many reasons. We NEED to win today.

LFG!

The Mighty Dees by 3 points and a defibrillator. (CS3) 200 games

PS: watch Trelly rip it up out there!

Firstly to all the Melbourne please come to the game today, there is plenty to be excited about our fast ball movement and our young emerging list.

We should win today and win comfortably by 4-5 goals. St Kilda are going to do the hard tag on Kozzie and I'm expecting Windhager will give him close attention for the whole game. Great weather for football, looking forward to seeing you at the game.

Your little sheet rack is all over the place. No amount of coffee and Red Bulls is gonna cut it this morning. This is finals-like feels.

CONGRATULATIONS, A! This is what you and your beautiful wife were hoping for. So happy for you both.

PS Boy or Girl? And name please 😊

This Iran war is gonna play havoc on getting to Melb …

But it is game 01 … and the pre season form (not sure about the other teams) was excellent. I’m with someone above in that the ball movement was spectacular.

And Latrelle’s 6 bounce run into goal against the Ross is etched in my memory. I’ll be looking out for CJ & Disco off half back, Langers & Langfers off the wings, Roo to surprise and KOSSIE BOG. Not too much to ask !!!

So go you good things … we need retribution against this mob

Hopefully waiting until after today's fabulous victory to see which player to name his child after!

Feeling pretty optimistic about today. I don't think the Saints have the fire power up forward to kick a winning score. With no Marshall, TDK will have to play majority ruck. Keeler coming in for them is interesting. Last year he looked like a player with no conditioning from a ressie side but he somehow gave Steven May a bath.

I think we'll start really well but the extra conditioning for the Saints playing in OR will help them in the second half. We'll hold on to win by 17 pts.

Didn't help Collingwood last night

I’m pumped. Revenge is best served in the first round.

GO DEES!!!!

Let’s Go Dee’s, super pumped to finally have arrived at the dawning of the King era. Jack Steele to make a big statement to the Saints & Checkers to bag 6 in his Red & Blue debut.

Duel Pickett mania for 4 quarters.

Will be watching live from Port Villa Vanuatu 🇻🇺 🔴🔵🔴🔵🇻🇺

I will be happy if we win.

I will be sad if we lose.

Congratulations on the birth of your first child.

First page of a new chapter, and the feelings of anticipation, mixed with a hint of trepidation, are already in the stratosphere.

Dees by 17 points, after a mini last quarter comeback the Aints.

LOVE the ❤️💙!

So long between drinks, seems like a lifetime ago.

Impossible to feel optimistic or pessimistic about this, no idea what we're going to see.

But alarm bell for me is the way that the teams that played in Opening Round have the rub on the teams just starting their season. Longmuir was pretty filthy on it after the Dockers ran out of legs against Geelong. If we're to have a chance we could need a decent margin at the last break. But heh ... go dees.

I think it's overstated and provides a convenient excuse for Longmuir. Richmond seemed to run out the game better than Carlton, the Bombers are just a far worse team than Hawthorn and probably would've got smashed regardless and the Crows got the better of the Pies. What were the Giants and Lions excuse?

If we're good enough, we'll win.

I have no idea what to expect today. But it's a fresh start and I'm looking forward to seeing how our new recruits go.

Agree!

But pathetic from AFL to not have the 10 teams who played last week play one another, and the 8 who didn’t play one another! Typical AFL, little effort to make it a draw vs FIXture!

Go Demons!

It’s gameday baby!

Pumped to be back at the G where the beer is cold and my tactical advice is completely ignored by those around me.

Go Dees!

Just looking forward to a great game of footy, want to see some exciting play from our boys and if we sneak a win, be an awesome day!

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
