GAMEDAY: Practice Match vs North Melbourne

Half time notes

The pros

  • Ball movement looks quick and slick. We look fun to watch.

  • Kozzy looks as though he's about to cause chaos this season. Big year incoming. Latrelle 'Cuzzy' Pickett has had some neat little involvements

  • Steele looks like he has a point to prove this season. Good old fashioned footballer.

  • Howes looks a winner on the wing. Watch this space...

  • Liking CJ at half back. Quick off the mark and not too bad in 1-on1 situations.

  • Kentfield and Heath impressing with their physicality against an elite ruckman in Xerri

Cons

  • North have exposed us a bit on the turnover. The consequences of trying to play quick

  • Kolt at half back looks a bit iffy. Disposal and decision making a concern

  • After a fair bit of hype, Windsor has been quiet. Likewise Jeffo aside from a really good forward tackle early.

  • Is Mihocek injured? Looked really good early but haven't seen much of him since.

Not feeling warm and fuzzy about Kolt bringjng it out of the backline 🥴

I'll support and hope for the best as long as he's a demon but I'm yet to see anything that suggests he'll make it. What are his weapon/s supposed to be?

Haven’t seen checkers for a while? Don’t know if it’s because quality isn’t 100% just haven’t noticed him this quarter.

Someone said Mihocek was slung, and hit "noggin". Perhaps they are being cautious, or it's concussion protocol for him.

scenario training is interesting; fritsch to half back as the 'spare' defender as we try and defend a 2 point lead

Mad Max 2 bog, so far. Got a good kick and is gutsy too

Thanks for that, I must’ve missed this. Hope his ok would rather him miss the rest of the game to make sure is 100%

Roo hasn't bulked up 😡.

Mihocek will be doing a lot of the heavy work in the forward line this year

Looks like he has some agility back again, last year he was way to slow

Heath, Kentfield look like AFL players

Need to see more from JVR, Jeffo

Where's Miohcek?

Just watched the highlight of the two Pickett goals. Must say, he is looking lean and powerful.

I'm finally getting a bit of the classic pre-season irrational optimism hit.

Kentfield is a big boy!

Must keep mask all year.

In fact let’s mask up all the boys.

Wow , Heath and Steele really add something to us!

Jeffo??

Has had one touch and dropped a couple of gettable marks

jefferson, windsor, tholstrup all need to show a lot more

I thought Tholstrup was v good in q2. Agree Windsor quiet

CJ out on the ground, doing run-throughs, under staffer instruction.

Testing?

Very hard on him. Great mark in Q2

Windsor has been quiet, but he had a good centre clearance in the 2nd

Gathered the ball and handballed over his head to Kozzie in space, should have been a goal assist, but Koz missed

So it seems that Jack Steele and Max Heath are doing well considering we got them in exchange for an expired six-pack of yoghurt and an unreliable TV remote.

My deepest sympathies to St Kilda fans, but at this stage I don't think even Mr Miyagi in a three movie arc could teach Ross Lyon humility.

'An expired six pack of yoghurt and an unreliable tv remote" that most be the comment of 2026 so far. Love your work little goffy.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
