Is anyone else worried that Jason Taylor isn’t signed up yet?

The Tassie team build would surely be an enticing prospect. And he would surely be high on their hit list.

Extremely important signing for us. Has anyone heard anything?

I think that would be unlikely. They got Todd Patterson from our women's programme and Derek Hine is the big boss. If Jason Taylor went there he'd presumably need to take a role below the one he has at Melbourne.

I agree we need to keep him, though.

Yep feels a little odd at the moment. If he was staying i would have thought something would have been announced by now.

Judd McVee all over again

A couple of first rounders will be too good for him to ignore, predicting a one year extension 🤑

I think he’s gone. There would have to be a non compete clause which would mean a year out. So his contract is up right at the wrong time

Best mates with Luke Beveridge.

Wonder if there will be some form of pulling power there.

i wouldnt worry if he left tomorrow .Generally over rated on DL .Sure his top half first round picks have been ok but they almost pick themselves .You could easily send an office girl armed with Cal Twomeys phantom draft to do that part of the draft .But since about 2020 our picks beyond that have been ordinary.Jefferson,Adams,Verrall Seaston. Johston Tholstrup Howes Woewodin Laurie Rosman Brown all misses. Even JVR has been disappointing .Bowser was a hit but he was also a first round pick. There is plenty of scope for us for an upgrade if JT was to return to air conditioning .

You'll be in trouble for ''wrong thought'', as Taylor is revered here on 'Land.

Btw, I don't quite agree with you, but I welcome a contrarian opinion.

Oliver was a great pick (some will give the credit to Roos), so were Pickett and Jackson, who many thought were a reach, Rivers was also good, and he's had a number of other very solid choices. But, as you say, he's also got plenty wrong. Overlooking Curnow and McKay for Weideman a case in point. And picking Jefferson a monumental failure. That said, mistakes will always happen.

This is a ''fan'' site and most who post here get excited over nothing.

I think the Jefferson pick was a forced hand. Need was clearly key forward. Had to take a key forward. He was the best of an ordinary lot…

Rosman was a long term development that didn’t pay off. Laurie was a good option at that part of the draft. If Geelong hadn’t traded in ahead of us those picks would have been Holmes and Bowie.

Howes is solid. Adams will be given more time as a key back. Woey jnr and brown jnr is acknowledgement of development pathway and an investment in that system.

Tholstrup on your list is the biggest reach that is yet to pay that I have doubts on other than the Jefferson one.

JT lead the build of the premiership list. Credit needs to be where it is due. Hardly a fluke. I back him with much more confidence than the previous holders of his role. More than gold coasts Cameron and much more than Pendergast, in who was so unqualified for the job I will go to my grave knowing I would have done a much job of it after watching a few 3 minute videos. Granted they would have all been contested footy beasts like Shuey , Sloane, Wines, Viney and darling to name a few. But could have traded for a few other pieces of the puzzle. The only pick he got right was Gawn. And I would have had him also.

If the office girl was making those picks, we would have ended up with Darcy Parish, Dylan Stephens, Brodie Kemp and Brock Smith. 50 shades of meh there.

Of course Taylor doesn't nail every single pick, but no recruiter does.

At the Casey final in Frankston I asked JT if he’d consider moving to another club if the offer was attractive. He said, “Pffft, no!” His reason? He said he’s too old and tired to be starting fresh at a new club 😅

Perhaps time may yet tell a different story, but I think the big failure wasn't so much the recruitment of Laurie that JT was responsible for, its that we have continued to give him contract extensions well beyond what is justified by his AFL level performances.

It's like we're giving him all the time of a key position player to develop, when small-mid sized players like him are a dime a dozen and we've had plenty at the club in his time that have actually shown more, that have come and gone.

Either way it pans out, I hope his list clogging days at the club are soon coming to an end.

Sounds a little Judd like 🫣.

He might be considering retirement? Probably keen to see what his family has been up to

Was also my thoughts. Hopefully we've got a good succession plan in place as it's bound to occur at some stage sooner or later.

I think the succession plan left for the Tassie Devils? Todd Patterson

Speaking of Todd Patterson, is it known who has taken over the role of AFLW list manager?

We've all read this book before.

Thanks for the good times JT, best of luck at your new club.

He’s been at the club since 2013.

Might be time to bring in some fresh perspective/new blood to align with Kingy’s rule.

Any good up and coming talent scouts out there in AFL land?

Wow. I’m really gonna have to stop sharing snippets of conversations I’ve had with anyone at the club. 🙄

Taylor has done well in the past but Roos was very much involved in those early picks. He has been a bit hit and miss of late
