2026 Walk Out Song

Featured Replies

Ghostwriter by name and Ghostwriter by action, for this post anyways.

Some suggestions from a former poster which imho are perfect:

  • Schism by Tool (or any of several Tool tracks).

  • Kashmir by Led Zeppelin.

  • Several Radiohead songs, he didn’t specify which songs.

My own offering is (unsurprisingly) a Sigur Rós track. As I always say, there’s a Sigur Rós track for every occasion. I don’t say it aloud, just in my head.

I give you…

How about something that was originally released in one of our Premiership years (1959 in this case)?

Don't tell me this wouldn't get the players fired up and the crowd dancing in the aisles.

Hard to sing along to - maybe that's the idea ?

I’m ancient, but it has my vote …….. for the lyrics alone!

Seems a shame to me that it’s all deteriorated over the years into now being nothing more that a “walkout”, as your heading describes it.

Back in the day, as they say, after the Reserves match ended, there was then a quiet buildup to the main event, where supporters just waited in anticipation for the Senior team, who would suddenly run out onto the field and through the banner, to a rousing roar of the crowd, which was quite stirring. That was the entire focus of the pre-start of the game, and everyone was all fired up for the game.

No blaring music, no loud, relentless announcements or other distractions going on. No multiple pre “walkout” warmup exercises on the ground by players, wearing all sorts of non-uniform training gear. Nowadays, by the time the players actually come out onto the ground again for real ahead or the game, they’re just one part of all the multiple activities and noise going on around the stadium, and no longer the main focus at that moment so, in my opinion, it has lost a lot of the old atmosphere.

PS. I’ve just read the lyrics in full, and I think I’ve changed my mind!

Yep and you'd have time to discuss with mates who's playing well in the ressies and is due for a call up

But.... We must become USA

Tool has multiple good options, but would they let a team use any of their stuff? I could easily see them saying no if asked.

No clue how it works, but would they need permission?

I assume so, but I'm only guessing.

You’re probably right. But I like to think any press is good press. Free advertising either way.

I hear you but the reality is given now that Aussie Rules has morphed into an enduro sport it's probably important for the players to do those warmups pre game.

I wish the two's still played before the one's but there is stuff all chance that'll happen on a regular basis again and even if it did am certain the turnaround wouldn't be 15 minutes like it used to be. Probably 90 minutes.

I can put up with some music pre game but the scoreboard ads and announcements drive me nuts, especially when trying to talk to people over the racket.

But given I don't get to matches anymore am uncertain if it's improved or got worse. I thought I read an article a few weeks back where they were going to tone it down a bit?

Surely there's a Mick Gordon remix of Palladio out there somewhere? That'll brown a few seats.

Disclaimer: I'm very much in the 'enough with the stupid noise war' section of the crowd.

So this is happening.

"With fiery visuals, player goal songs and a demonic ‘Acca-dacca’ inspired soundtrack featuring in the pre-match festivities, fans are in for a hell of a time when they attend a Melbourne home game this year."

Songs after every goal à la Brisbane, with the first goal of the game decided by fans. Gameday is going to feel different.

Edited by Nascent

I can't stand music after each goal a la Brisbane, please stop with this this moronic Americanisation of sports here 👎👎

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
