Nice synergy with Kate Hore hopefully also registering her 100th goal.

Can't wait.

So good. And lots of 100s coming up with Mick's 100th the game after and some 100 game milestones hopefully in the next few years.

Actually, if anyone's looking to handcraft a sign, "100" has some good upcoming re-use value!

Ticketing info:

The member pre-sale period for Week 1 of the 2025 NAB AFLW Finals Series is on Monday 3 November 12pm.

Yep, for me it’s the last recording session for my band’s album. Had it booked in for weeks 😖

I blame bloody Starcevich moaning about Brions having to play in Melb today and then having to come back. Boo-[censored]-hoo 🤬

@Meggs report on Geelong game mentioned some of players being below their best. The athletes, the runners - McNamara, Bannan and Paxy - were not at their best.

I don't think we can underestimate the impact of last week playing in the energy-sapping heat and bruising encounter with Brisbane - especially the running athletes. Lions coach Starcevich said it was one of the best games the Lions have played over the 10 years. He was impressed with his team's performance.

It sounds to me we took the Lions' best shot. And because of this, Coach Stinear and the Dees coaching team maximised their learnings from the game.

For some reason, being the underdog provides a better competitive edge when the rivalry is close.

We have the home ground, we're not in the heat, we have the feeling of being underdogs, we have an 8-day break to the first final - I like the feel of all that.

It would be brilliant to get the win if only to have the week off to freshen up. That would make a big difference to some of our key players.

This will be the first live woman’s game I’ll be going to.

Possible team

B: S.Taylor, Gillard

HB: Goldrick, Lampard, Chaplin

C: McNamara, Hore, Mackin

HF: Fitzsimon, Harris, Wotherspoon

F: Bannan, Zanker

FOLL: Pearce, Hanks, Heath

IC: Paxman, Ebert, Mahony, Campbell, Gall

I've loved her career, but not sure they can play Lampard.

First of three for this season? The third one being the one where Kate and Mick hold up this…

It wasn't the prettiest at times but I thought the game against the lions last week was close to the best AFLW game I've watched.

Fantastic pressure from both sides

It'd be a tough call. Who'd you bring in? (Sincere question, not having a go!)

Very tough call. I truly have enjoyed her football.

Last week really worried me. More than once she looked like she had concrete legs. You can get away with that if you're the designated distributor or getting to the right spot and taking intercept marks. Lampard isn't.

Straight swap for Goldrick, if Sinead's available.

Anyone know how ticketing works with a mobile membership. It's completely opaque on the Ticketmaster website.

Call the club, they are so much easier to deal with than ticket master

Goldrick is still a week away, O’Hehir is a test and Colvin and Beasley are available.

I say no change

B:S.Taylor, Gillard

HB: Chaplin, Lampard, Mackin

C: McNamara, Hore, Paxman

HF: Fitzsimon, Harris, Wotherspoon

F: Bannan, Zanker

FOLL: Pearce, Hanks, Heath

Just out of interest, with 3 of the first finals week games being played at Ikon park, do the Blues make money out of this?

It's owned by the City of Melbourne and is operated by CFC.

I doubt that anyone makes money but it helps defray the expenses.

Our game might attract 5k. Doubt that anyone breaks even but who pays.... also doubt we'll ever know

Need a big 4 qtrs, we didn't match the lions until he end in the last game, but they'll learn from that. Looking forward to seeing the girls go straight to the Prelim, fingers crossed.

It will hurt us not having Goldy this weekend. She's had a bumpy season.

We'll really miss her run.

Thought she'd be back in this week. I hope her eye is coming good

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
