Cal Twomey saying that its looking likely the trade will be Trac and 24 for pick 7 and 8 with a bunch other picks involved.

Riley Beveridge saying Humphrey trade not happening.

Well Riley Beveridge needs to stop being so negative then.

Trac for 7 and 8 is NOT a good deal at all.

They are unknowns in a widely reported weak draft - one we already stated we don't want to be involved in!!

A lot still to transpire, but if this happens, and we get the expected bag of chips for Clarry (plus paying a chunk of his $), then we are missing both stars in our midfield next year, with nobody really able to fill those gaps.

A dire, uninspiring outcome. Holding out hope we can at least slot in someone we can build with/around.

FD must know this is a bad deal - we do NOT have to trade Trac. Deal does not help us win a flag.

A midfield of Pickett, Viney, langford, with Windsor, Rivers, Lindsay rotating through... is competitive with room for growth... sure trac rotating through HF and mid would be grateful but not essential we need the younger hungry players to step up

My preference is play to the death for BH unless he states he does not want to come. But if not you need to look at it as pick 7 and 8 and $1million+ of annual salary cap space for 4 years.
Whilst not preferred, we would only do it if JT is confident of what he would get and/or Lamb was confident of what further he could spin it into as an on trade.
It also might step us back 2026 but would better reset and galvanise the group and leave a war chest for 2026 trade period that we could plan for.

The bit I don't like about this is the pick back should be pick 28 not 24. There is a chance, however likely, that we can trade 24 for a future 1st. Does GC honestly walk away from this Trac deal over that?

We don’t need to trade him.

This year he’s a gun with 4 years on his contract and next year he’s a gun with 3 years on his contract. He may not have a fun year this year but we can easily trade him next year for better value than that in a better draft. Then we’ll have $1m+ salary relief for 3 years (not 4).

Plus we get the bonus if having a top 20 player in the AFL play for us for a year … or even have him discover that playing for Steven King is great and he wants to stay.

There’s no need for a panic sale with him this year.

Yes we do. He doesn't want to be at the Dees, he's asked for a trade and nominated a club, and we want his enormous salary off our books.

Clearly Cal and Riley don't know how to get to Maffra. That's where it's all happening.

Of course they would, and we'd be stupid enough to do it.

I agree we don't need to and not saying I would but my point was you are not just trading for 7+8 its the $$$ that it frees and the future preparations that allows.

I am unsure his value will be any higher than now if he stays with us. He would have just scraped into top 20 this year will he slide further with another year under his belt?

My guess is that it will be a lot easier to galvanise the group and get on with things if the self serving prima donna distraction he appears painted to be is not there. Bring forward payments on others and know you have a war chest for 2026 trade period that you can plan for rather than another offseason of will he wont he want to leave.

You don't have to do it but I wont begrudge us if this is the path we take. My only concern is it will go against all external messaging from Guerra, King and Lamb.

I agree there are great kids in there. I just think we need another senior player in there.

A warchest like Norf's or the Saints? We're a minnow club and we're not going to attract A graders in future, no matter the warchest. The one opportunity we have to do that is this year with Humphrey for Petracca, rewrite the narrative and at least become a piranha.

If the Suns need points THIS year if they give up 7 and 8, then we should be offering our 2nd rounders, but only if are getting back their future 1sts.

Exactly. Them needing points for their nepo baby acadamy pics shouldn't be at our expense. If we have to to facilitate the trade then they can give us back equal points from their 2026 draft.

It's Tracc for 6 & 7 if not BH. If not walk away. They don't dictate this.

I think I might have had a hand in that. I posted that WC are interested in trading for pick 7/8 and it got legs from there.

I should have been clearer though, what I heard Cal say was WC were interested in trading up for either pick 7 or 8.

Pick 7 and 8 will blow out in a weak draft , top it off with the Petracca deal ,the Suns want pick 24.This would be pathetic if we accept any of it. What are the Suns going to give for JUH?

I am 99% sure Petracca is going to play in the red and blue next year.

He'll be at Gold Coast next year

WHAT THE?

Jon Ralph reports:

“Dees still holding out hope on Humphrey in the Petracca deal … but the fallback is picks 7 and 8 … as long as they give some points back for the Suns academy players”.

Trac and 24 FOR picks 7 & 8

Done deal

Looking at it from GC’s POV - they are seriously wanting to get all their academy players PLUS a top 15 player this off season.

We are not obliged to give a flying about meeting ‘their goals’.

Give us Bailey or [censored] off

It seems giving 7&8 won’t affect their draft, if we give later picks. Essentially they get Trac for no real terms cost.

What does that say about Trac’s value to them? With all of GC’s bounty… he might want to remind them he’s “the brand”TM.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
