I would hope his audience would be pretty bloody positive given his contribution to the club over the past 11 years. This is the furthest thing from Jackson or McVee leaving after delivering one decent season.

Don’t disagree.

However, I have a feeling he won’t get the most welcoming audience, rightly or wrongly.

Some appreciation and show of respect before the bounce and then it's down to business and he is an ex player.

Petracca took a break from treating his young teammates to his great food to reflect on the absurdity of suggestions that his non-football brand development was a distraction. "I always put my football first, which is why I'm serving the all-star midfield group a delicious linguine with clams".

"The average footballer's career is only four and a half years, so as a superstar entering his twelfth year and earing over a million a season it is important I show leadership by giving those average footballers the experience of my nan's famous three-cheese stuffed capsicum before they are ruthlessly dropped back to obscurity."

His midfield coach lauded his attitude, saying he had brought a great attitude and several lasagne to the club. "From his very first entree, we knew he would add a terrific new ingredient to our midfield combination fried rice"

Petracca also noted that like all Queenslanders he waa sure his mental health was great.

"I'm definitely never doing that dumplings in the rice cooker recipe again", he affirmed, adding that it was Clayton's idea anyway.

This article originally made no mention of monosodium glutamate. We have edited the article to include the statement from Damian Hardwick, that "None of Christian's recipes include MSG, which is widely known to be a method used by the Chinese Communist Party to implant microchips into the spinal fluid of consumers to create Manchurian Candidates." We apologise for the error.

Followed by many boos? 😂

I reckon the boo's will totally put him off his game. So ill be all for it.

The oxygen that both him & Oliver sucked up was crazy & wrong by both club and players… say what you want but ultimately when it’s about the player it become selfish by them, Oliver I can accept but Trac I expected better

He walked out on the club when the going got tough.

Leaders stay and try to help turn the ship around.

He has shown what type of guy he is.

Hope he enjoys playing in front of 8K plastic fans.

Traditionally I've had GWS as my second team. Their gamestyle and star studded line up has always been a good watch. May just replace them with the Suns this year. I doubt that they will win it but they could be a value bet. Their two games in Darwin do them no favours though

We have their first pick, I hope they all do their hammies all year

Wonder the type of audience he receive when we play them early on in the season..

At least when Garry ran off with Nicky, Billy didn't have to watch him do it on Fox Footy every weekend in a Gold Coast jumper.

On the other hand ....

"The only thing I can go by is the conversations with Christian and (partner) Bella, and the fact that we've spent a lot of time with Christian and Bella and they're incredibly thankful with the support the club's given. From players, coaches, management and our welfare team who's not only been dealing with Christian but also his family."

Goodwin also slammed suggestions the club's doctors had acted against Petracca's best interests by clearing him to return to the field. "I trust our medical team like never before - they're unbelievable at what they do and they're independent to the game," Goodwin said. "They did all the assessments possible and we're really comfortable where that stood."

Don’t understand the mindset of those shaping up to boo him.

Aside from the years of service to our club, he played one of the great individual games in the club’s only premiership for many of us. For that alone, I will always have a soft spot for him.

Seems the real takeaway, he’s showing a glass jaw to criticism. The mob senses when it affects a player. Opposition teams will no doubt be testing him too, calling him “the brand”

I badly wanted him to stay. Guess I was wrong, bizarrely after losing an elite player it feels like we’ll be better for it.

He disrespected the club in 24 with the way he went about trying to get traded. For that reason he will not held in the highest esteem that his efforts in the guernsey probably deserved.

He did go to an inter-state club though that paid a good price for a 30 year old. he did the right thing by us in that regard.

he doesn't owe us anything. and we don't owe him anything either.

he's an opposition player now. i won't boo him. but i won't be cheering him either.

I will be giving the loser plenty over the fence.

What a complete waste of energy, though. You should consider redirecting that energy towards cheering for our players. That’s energy well spent.

'Laughable': New Sun hits out at 'Brand Petracca' critics

Christian Petracca fires back at critics of his social media work off the field

"This whole 'Brand Petracca' ... I don't know where this has come from," he told reporters on Monday.

Didn't someone on Demonland coin the phrase?

By all accounts Damien Barrett coined the phrase.

Nope, ungrateful, disgraceful person, who must be confronted, shame on the loser.

He won’t be able to hear your boos from the enclosed OAP box in the MCC anyway.

By all accounts Damien Barrett coined the phrase.

SLIDING DOORS:

## IF…

Damian Barrett sees Christian Petracca doing anything north of the Tweed —

THEN…

prepare yourself, because “**Brand Petracca**” will be declared the biggest thing to hit the Gold Coast since the last expansion draft.

## IF…

Petracca signs a sponsorship deal, posts a beach photo, or is spotted near a surfboard,

THEN…

Barrett’s Narrative Accelerator will turn it into a discussion about “focus,” “priorities,” and whether the Suns can handle such a powerful brand aura.

## IF…

Petracca dominates a game,

THEN…

it’s because “Brand Petracca thrives in the Queensland lifestyle.”

But if he has an off day,

it’s because “Brand Petracca is distracted by the Queensland lifestyle.”

Either way — the brand is undefeated.

## IF…

Barrett coins a phrase like “Brand Petracca,”

THEN…

expect it to echo across every AFL platform until even the Metricon seagulls are quoting it.

## IF…

Gold Coast fans push back on the label,

THEN…

Barrett will calmly explain he’s “just calling it as he sees it,” which is media shorthand for “I’ve created a storyline and I’m not letting go.”

## IF…

Petracca posts a cooking video from a Gold Coast apartment,

THEN…

Barrett will wonder aloud whether the Suns are comfortable with their marquee player sautéing instead of centre‑bouncing.

## IF…

Petracca says nothing at all,

THEN…

Barrett will describe the silence as “interesting,” “telling,” or “a developing situation.”

## IF…

Barrett hears even the faintest whisper about the Suns,

THEN…

it becomes a “story worth monitoring,” which is AFL media code for “I’m about to make this a thing.”

## IF…

there’s absolutely nothing happening in the AFL world,

THEN…

don’t worry — Barrett will find a way to bring up Brand Petracca again, just to keep the content ecosystem hydrated in the Queensland heat.

## IF…

you think this is all a bit dramatic,

THEN…

congratulations — you’ve mastered the Barrett Method.

I won’t boo him coz i’m not 10 years old but he spent over 18 months desperate to leave the club and never did anything to stop the rumours or media talk. That damages his reputation but of course you have to acknowledge how good he was and for the flag

Our flag 10 year reunion should be interesting

Goody Clarry Trac May LJ all back together.

might need security

I legitimately read 6 of those sliding doors before I realised they were taking the mickey. which just shows you how bad Damos's "column" is.
