On his interview on AFL.com trac claimed he went to Suns for their "culture"... (hopefully his taking the famous melbourne 2024/2025 culture with him)

Wouldn't be the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to the Suns.

Someone posted he requested this from the club and we said no, which is why he was seeking a trade

I call bs on that poster! People can post anything they like but it does not make it fact.

An agent probably does get a % of commercial contracts they negotiate for a player but the club does not. The club would get money or kind from its official sponsors and allow players to appear in those ads/events but not from other player commercial work.

AFL rules about players accepting payment from sponsors or appearances eg Caulfied Cup is very clear: if they wear club gear ie officially represent the club it is in the sal cap, If in civvies it is outside the cap.

The reason stated in the post for him requesting a trade is also bs. At the start of the year Trac withdrew from all footy commercial arrangements including AFL 360 (and I think Cash Converters).

We definitely need a 'Fact Check' thread. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think I'll just thank Petracca for the premiership

Yes I did thank Trac on multiple occasions, in and out of Demonland! But bobblehead Trac is gone, replaced by bobblehead Kossie, a superior and more loyal Bobblehead!

I’m not sure if you’re complimenting Kolt or bagging him. I hope it’s the former but I fear it’s the latter

He needs support with focusing on the important little things.

This year was always a reset year. Tracs brand was on the nose a little and he also needed to focus on a successful return to footy

He was never going to do 360 and answer questions re his commitment each week

Re cash converters, was a poor choice to align with to start with

imo things will get going again as he, his bus mgr Bella and his relatively new commercially savvy agents look to expand his brand to new audiences.

Just keep banging the rocks together. It is quite entrancing.

Thanks for explaining this, it’s interesting he withdrew from his footy commercial arrangements and changed management… just seems that he’s decisions are all commercially driven, he’s interview saying he had a brief chat with King reinforces was already checked out and on face value showed a lack of respect towards King.

Therein are some assumptions and not sure they are correct.

Maybe King and Petracca were in different states and iirc King was still involved with the GF.

For the record, various players have developed commercial interests on social media:

  • Dangerfield: fishing (incl podcasts)

  • Smith: Himself

  • Wakeman: Fashion, Art

I doubt their fans criticise them.

And, they are entitled to set themselves up for life after football, just like some go to university, into real estate or develop other careers while playing footy.

Its ok for them to show such initiative for who knows when footy might end.

No issue with having a plan after after footy has finished, just seems so clinical, but hey it’s become a business totally, my opinion he’s decision wasn’t just based on Football..

You are probably right.

I'm guessing the major injury was life changing and made him reassess his priorities: eg what if he couldn't play footy again. how long can he play footy for then what happens ...

tbh, I would think every player's manager works with them to set themselves after footy.

Apparently at the BnF he said footy is his job and has said similar at GC. Lots of players treat footy as their job and really it is. imv that is ok.

Many of us are upset at him leaving and some of the circumstances around it but not sure we should continue to make assumptions and find fault with his decisions.

As much as I would have loved him to be a one-club player, he is gone and I think the club is better for it.

A chapter closed.

Yeah, it’s sad to see it end this way, but sometimes a clean break can help both sides move forward. He’s given us some incredible moments, and now it’s time for everyone to start a new chapter.

Thanks LH I think that the fact that Tracc withdrew from all Commercial arrangements including 360 and changing his Manager clearly shows that Christian had already set his course for a change of clubs at the end of ‘25. And to his credit he went to the only club that could achieve a head moving Offer for him and for that I thank him.

We gave up lot of history 2021-2023 and we received three first rounders to help rejuvenate our club and he will always be a Legend of MFC.
