city and country supporter?

What a funny old fellow is Humphrey 🐻 ... he apparently grew up a Geelong supporter but his favourite footballer was Patrick Cripps and he tried to model parts of his game on the Carlton captain.

He is keen to move to Victoria and Melbourne and Carlton are in the chase (Pies will struggle to do any deal).

I said it in the other thread and I’ll reiterate it here

Why the [censored] would Humphrey want to come play for us?

We can’t even get Flanders to commit at this stage and his only other suitors are bloody St Kilda and Essendon. Essendon?!!

Put Flanders and Humphrey both on 8 or 9 year deals, we have to use the King factor to get these deals over the line.

Prime midfield minutes along with Pickett to actually be the driving force of a Vic club.

Don't have to play 2nd and 3rd fiddle to Daicos brothers, De goey or Cripps and walsh to contend with.

Blow these other clubs out of the water.

Show some sack Dees.

Dees have to show some sack here.

Collingwood have no currency.

Surely there is a reason why they have asked Clarry to move on along with Tracc.

Why is Kozzie going to the GC!!!!

If I am GC I’m not fighting tooth and nail I am simply not trading him under any circumstances.

If I’m GC I realise that it’s time to win a flag and grow the profile of the club and I’m doing whatever I can to secure a once in a decade opportunity to land a high profile, mature, proven finals player.

Yeah coz that worked wonders with us before 🤪

let's not do that.

4 years for Ned and max 6 years for Humphreys if that's what's needed to get the deal done

My hypothetical -

  • Heath, Steele and Humphrey to Melbourne

  • Flanders to St Kilda

  • Petracca to Gold Coast

  • Swapsies with draft picks to satisfy all parties

You know Saints probably gave Flanders 14 years at $1.6mil a year.

Ross probably stole Jack Steele’s pasta and gave it to Flanders at dinner too.

If we have got rid of Oliver, we are not getting Steele.

Each to their own. GC have that much talent on their list I expect them to win a flag with or without Trac in the next few years. Humphrey would be one of the core group of untouchable players for mine at GC.

Stuff St. Kilda...

Melbourne give: Petracca, Oliver, Pick 24.

Melbourne get: Humphrey, Flanders

Gold Coast give: Humphrey, Flanders

Gold Coast get: Petracca, Pick 12

GWS give: Pick 12

GWS get: Oliver, Pick 24

Melbourne gets two young gun midfielders and a salary dump. Gold Coast gets their gun mature age finals performer and a pick to satisfy academy selections. GWS get Oliver for a 12 pick downgrade in a [censored] draft. Can't see a loser in that.

But you’re not GC and really you’re just ecstatic at the prospect of getting Humphrey to the club.

This ⬆️

People who think Trac isn’t capable of getting back to AA form have far differing opinions than both MFC and GC.

Dimma wants a flag next season. This could be the deal that brings that want to life.

A flag at the Suns makes Dimma one of all time greats, and we all know Dimma is more in love with Dimma than Trac is with Nonna’s bolognese.

And Dimma is not at the Suns for a long time. He’s there for a good time. He wants to succeed quickly. He has no patience for building anything again.

Maybe. But you missed the "high profile player" bit.

Trac will just about pay for himself in extra memberships and ticket sales. Sure, they have some great players, but they haven't had a superstar since Ablett left.

Maybe Humphrey's going to GWS with Oliver? 🤷

he’s had Trac and Lindsey for a bit.. Oliver follows him but he doesn’t follow Oliver 😬

Kozzy and Humphrey following each other is fresh tonight

How about Jonesy? Did he also start following him today? 👀

Not saying they shouldn’t throw a fair bit at getting Trac, but if I was them it wouldn’t involve BH. But that’s just my opinion.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
