Getting Humphrey without giving our F1 isn’t “winning” the trade. It’s making a fair trade.

Imv Trac for Humphrey is a straight swap deal, whatever is added on either side should be strategic points pick dealing that serves each side

Except we're getting a first rounder back in my scenario.

If I'm GC, I'm fighting tooth and nail to keep Humphrey.

Can't see it happening myself, and this site would go into meltdown if the boot were on the other foot and we traded away our equivalent. (Kozzie?)

All down to Humphrey revealing his decision. He’s been put in an awkward spot if he was quite happy at Gold Coast, and GC imply they’re happy for him to go…

I hope he had a plan to return in 2028, and this just brings it forward.

Opportunity for him to step up his game as a key player in the MFC’s 2026 midfield resurgence. 😃

Food for thought.

It’d be a waste of time, money and effort for BH to meet with any Victorian teams without the suns approval, because if they’re going to hardline no, it doesn’t matter who he’s spoken to.

My guess is the suns recognise he’s the one who could unlock the real, might leave anyway and they might not get another shot at someone like petracca in the short term so they might sacrifice BH

I wouldn’t do it if I was them, but they know him and have all the intel and if he’s really homesick or wanted to leave anyways maybe it works okay

Or maybe he is neither really homesick or desperately wants to leave (but ‘open’ to a departure) but the Suns just prefer something about Trac in their mix for the next 3 years and sacrificing BH is the only way to unlock that?

Even if this is true, I’d expect Suns still try and explore other trade scenarios for Trac so they can keep BH

The issue is the only things we have to offer him right now are money and his relationship with Steven King. which i mean Dimma has already coached him longer than king did so that's overstated.

I don't want us to go full St Kilda and offer anyone that isn't an established superstar level player superstar money, but i feel that's the only way someone like Humphrey is going to consider us.

All the posturing is crazy.

Can almost guarantee you he is out from GC.

Reportedly on 800k atm...he could get as much as 1.5 million from a few Vic clubs.

Let me stay at GC for half the wage, whilst bringing in Petracca? Makes no sense...he is out!

Vic boy also,....it is a dream scenario for him...here's hoping he sees an incredible opportunity to build a dynamic combination with Kozzie....forward or mid, it really could be exciting!

He looks good in red and blue... but, who doesn't. Hahaha.Messenger_creation_81A5A71C-059F-4FDF-B33F-93FE1A0535CF.jpeg

If our offer is in that vicinity that will be an unprecedented % of salary cap spent on two small-ish forwards/sometimes midfielders

I want to dare to dream but I just dont see how it can actually happen even with the Petracca trade.

Personally would be fine with that....both are going to have massive roles through the midfield throughout their careers, with great forward craft, and neither are the finished product.

I am bullish to the point that these 2 players will make us an attractive club again. Hope, optimism, skill and excitement. These are elements we been missing for years.

Oliver and Petracca have loved them both....

But neither have really made a difference last few years on field, it seems like both have been having more impact in the background. Wish them both the best...they are both likely to improve with change of environment and motivation.

If we land Bailey, we will forget about Petracca/Oliver combo so quickly.

Kozzie/Humphrey faster, younger, x factor.

Get it done Demons, give us hope!

Well, looks like Petracca suits up for us next year. If our list managers accept anything less than Humphrey (minimum) for Petracca, then we are a league laughing stock.

I don't care that Gold Coast says he is off the table... unless he comes to us, Petracca is off the table too.

Petracca has been shopping himself round while the club has been saying we want him to stay.

Hardly a waste of time given he’s about to get traded now.

BH no different

What if Humphrey says he doesn't want to come to us?

Petracca sucks it up and comes back to us with tail between his legs. King has already insinuated that. Unless Gold Coast pay up, he stays. They can give us Walter or some other young gun if they want him bad enough, and it is up to them to convince their player to come to us.

Spot on Ted, GC's public statement that they have no plans to trade Humphries is really about working out whether Humphries wants to be traded in a deal that gets them Trac and that they are happy with. There is no point declaring they are open to trading Humphries onpy for a deal not to be done.

We need a serious charm offensive and do our utmost to convince Humphrey to come to us.

I really hope we are pulling out at the stops to make this happen.

If he nominates us the deal is done. and i'm not fussed about whatever picked are given / swapped as part of the deal.

Exactly, it's not about what GC will deal, it's about convincing Humphrey to nominate us. If he does then game on, if not, as @Redleg said, we have a problem.

Humphrey is no kozzie but I would trade bont for Windsor

Humphrey would instantly become one of our top 5 players.

I like Windsor but he might even crack the starting 22 at the Dogs.

How many votes did Humphrey get? Does he bust packs and open play up?

He does go missing sometimes like Trac, but Gees he's not even on the park.

The rhetroic around the Suns finals capability is a little OTP. They haven't proven anything yet in my opinion. They had a strong H&A season, but they really had some poor games throughout the season including finals.

A lot in the media are carrying on that they are firmly in the window. I'm not all-in on them yet.

They are missing key players and i think Trac definitely gives them something more to work with ahead of the ball. He is more valuable to GCS than Humphrey is to us so we need a pick on top to complete the deal.

I don’t think Humphrey is leaving but I think his motivation for meeting with Vic clubs is exactly the above.

He signed a long term deal at below what is now a big jump in the market.

If Rowell, Anderson and Ben King all sign on long term plus Mac Andrew who already has the Suns are squeezed for guys they can pay huge money to.

I still doubt they blink this year but clearly there’s doubt on whether he will stay long term and whether the Suns can afford him.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
