Has anyone had a chance to see any of the State Under 18's teams in action in Melbourne yet?

I hear Belly has a cousin playing for the Vic Country team who is wearing his number.

Saw them in action in Adelaide and most looked good so don't know how they can sort them out.

The SA team kicked butt that day .

Rhys Palmer was so impressive against Metro. Im really keen to see how he backs it up this week.

He again did well, 36 touches and a goal, played very well.

Not a top 3 pick though imo.

Western Australia 9.14 (68) d Victoria Country 3.7 (25)

Goals:

Western Australia : Masten 2, Morton 2, Ellard 2, Palmer, Garlett, Yarran

Victoria Country: Hobbs, McKenna, Bell

Best:

Western Australia: Palmer, Masten, Morton, Rich, Myers, Rance

Victoria Country: Hockey, Austin, Selwood, Suban, Hobbs

Kreuzer, Cotchin and Ebert look the players most likely to be taken with early picks. I'm a big fan of Ben McEvoy, a ruckman from Vic Country, and Cyril Rioli, an indigenous small utility.

McEvoy is a good ruckman, I just think that Kruezer is a little more versatile. Ebert does look pretty good.

The other Selwood brother had a good game today as well, could be a chance for our priority pick if he slips through.

Youre right, Jarka, but McEvoy has incredible scope for improvement and a great engine - top 5 pick for mine - curiously he trained with Melbourne last year as part of the communities program.

Victoria Metro : Potts 4, De Bruin, Maric, Grant.

South Australia : Holmes, Staple, White.

The stand out is the WA kid Palmer, the two games 30+ possessions and kicks goals I think he kicked 5 last week. Fast midfielder, this is the player we should be looking to get.

i have playeds with ben mcevoy before and must i say he is a gun! great pace for a big guy, a strong mark, and really versitile. has good timing leap and has that ability to tap the ball straight to a teammate in ball ups and boundry throw ups

Posted

he is also a friend of urs it seems. lol. so obvious. don't let that fact blind you from all the other great players that are on offer.

Posted

well freak if we dont pick up kreuzer then this kid should be our next option. 200 cm tall ruckman with a bit of pace and skill id bloody take him

Masten from WA is said to be a very good midfielder. Runs hard all day, prolific ball winner and doesn't mind going in and getting it himself.

1 & 2 for this years draft will be Kreuzer then Cotchin, by a mile.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
