I'm still waiting for any journo to talk about Tanner Bruhn and his mystery injury. Fascinating how much control Geelong have over the media.

Ahhh... the mysteries and intrigue that surround Midsomer-Barton ......

You'd reckon it would get some coverage in the digital media.

I believe as this is a criminal case, there is a lot that can't be written in the media until his case goes to trial. So it's a legal matter.

Still, lets remember that journalists don't reside in Geelong, and anyone who does is a mad Cats fan. So who is filming or reporting players doing naughty things in the bubble of Geelong? Nobody. That really helps when players behave badly.

You can't tell me that ol' Smithy was caught more than once on camera doing the nose snow while at the Dogs, but has totally changed his ways since moving to the farm... please!

I forced myself to watch Chris Scotts weekly presser.

He was very happy for Steven King.

Gave him a glowing reference apparently.

I despise Chris Scott, but the man knows success.

I think it was made before King's appointment.

It was certainly made before King's appointment. As have all these list decisions.

You would expect he was told in his exit interview, but it's only coming out now.

(Actually, it's not even only coming out now, this was being floated in the media nearly a month ago. Looks like the club/May are being a bit more proactive, perhaps hoping they'll get a few more bites.)

Nothing to do with King.

Kings appointment has even made the Geelong Advertiser.....dont ask what I am doing reading that

I remember Malthouse being all praise for Neeld too.

Not saying King is a Neeld but the proof of the pudding will be in the eating.

Basically confirmed in the Leaks thread that May was told in his exit interview back in August.

He might be starting Monday.... just sayin' 🤔🙄

Or not 🤔🤷‍♂️🤔😆

Haha I hope he and the cats make it, I live down here and gotta say I hate the other teams so much more and am just rooting for our new coach...GET SOME KINGY!

Also helps that there is bugger all to do in Geelong.

Drag Chol and substitute him out. Has been a massive liability.

Please update us regarding this

I told him Demon supporters happy with King, he came back with typical satisfied with 2nd best, so couldn’t resist the Buckley turned premiership team into a losing team. But he was then onto Guerra missing on Essendon CEO role, so just had to laugh!

Am I in the minority in saying that King should not be involved with Geelong?

The minute you are appointed as coach of the Melbourne Football Club, Geelong and the other 16 teams are instantly a rival.

Doing Geelong any form of favour is in contrast to the fiercely competitive elite clubs who don’t have room for niceties. See Sam Mitchell.

Do we then end up with a world where you can’t talk to/interview assistants until their season is over?

I would hate if a dees assistant left in the middle of a finals campaign.

Play on.

Absolutely spot on.

The minute he was appointed with the MFC job, he became a Melbourne man. The guy was so clearly elated and proud to have won the job. And then he goes back to enemy territory.

It’s just a bit weird.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
