doesn'r mind driving to Casey

I give him 1 week before he changes his mind on that

Maybe it’s the shaved head, big work ethic and talk about coding a game but he actually reminds me a lot of Goody except he doesn’t have the baggage of 5 years of being hounded by the media and the baggage with our players.

He seems self assured and a good team player. Played a nice straight bat when it came to changes with the playing list and team staff which is sensible. But you can’t expect to play Geelong style footy with this Melbourne list and every coach wants their guys as assistants, whether it’s this year or next he’ll start to reshape the club.

He said he drives to Geelong every day, Casey a couple of times a week will be a breeze by comparison. Anyone who’s done the Geelong trip repeatedly with all the west gate tunnel works knows it’s hell on earth.

Unless your skiddies are done with a XW with a big block!

Or a hotted up Range Rover 😉

Love the way he talks - "if you don't visualize it, you don't get it"

Impressive speaker and communicator.

Talked about drive from the back half as a big part of the modern game so I get the feeling, especially after talking about intently studying the list prior to applying for the job, I don’t think Rivers will be moved into the midfield like most expect.

A revamped style with Bowey and Rivers rebounding is an exciting prospect. Bowey isn’t as explosive, but is quick and a great ball user which could be the perfect combination.

Also can’t wait to see what he does with the forward set up as a result of a more positive style.

The best line ever when asked what he would do if offered the job after saying how proud he was, blah blah and mentioning the wife, he says, " I am the coach that this club needs"

IMO opinion that is the best response imaginable.

Even better, OD, he actually said, “I am the coach this club is screaming out for.” And he said it mid-response which shows it wasn’t contrived, he genuinely believes it.

@Demonland

Just curious, Andy. We’ve all chucked our 2 cents in. What are your thoughts on Kingy’s appointment?

That was a fantastic . With that news conference. As good a speaker as I have listened too. Bring in 2026.

Someone mentioned he was at the Casey Frankston game taking notes,

Great start. Can only see one way forward fid the demons. Onwards and upwards

Both in terms of green and guerra. Our new coach and the last bit about the announcement soon that greedy mentioned. He had a great smile saying that,

All great news. Shove that Kero and Kain. Tom and that other plodder!

Not unhappy with Kings appointment. It just leaves me twitchy re his Geelong playing connection.

No former Geelong player has coached a flag since '63. Former Melbourne players have won 9 in that time. Since '52 the numbers are 1 vs 14.

I do wish there could be a float mic that picked up the questions better

Yes, we're all aware that people need to leave Melbourne to see sustained success. Nothing new there.

It all came down to do you want the job ?

One said yes. The other said what was the question?

And there were no learnings !

My favourite thing that he said is that he's not interested in the past, and think everyone deserves a clean slate.

I think this is going to be super important to empowering and galvanising what I believe is a bit of a fractured playing group, where there are grudges still being held.

We need clean air and King brings just that.

From the Guerra SEN interview:

“We loved his articulation of the game plan, particularly the contemporary side of it. We love how he’s using technology to inform that as well.

I would say Nathan would have been a long way behind on the use of technology. 4-5 years out of the game is an eternity in use of technology, in any field.

Especially as Nathan had said on OTC that game plan wasn't that important.

Reading between the lines i reckon the use of technology and Bucks' sitting on the fence were points of difference swing it toward Kingy.

I think the forwards would be pretty excited by him validating that they perhaps haven't been given the best chance

the forward set up and conversaion has been slammed by the media and rightly so, but it's hardly Jacob Van Rooyens fault if the ball is coming in too slow, high and to a bad spot and he has to win a 3 on one against much more experienced players to get it.

I reckon he's a massive chance to really spike as a player in 2026.

I reckon JVR and Kentfield will have breakout season in 2026.

Super interested to see where he plays Petty.

What about former St Kilda players?

In the past 100 years, only two flags have been coached by blokes with four letters in their surname.

This stat, not unlike yours, is completely irrelevant and meaningless.

Always got to be a 'first'

I dont see that quality as being a hindrance.

I didn't think a tongue in cheek meme was necessary. Seems I was wrong.

Still, it's an interesting stat, you'd have to admit.

Two things that would improve this site:

1 - Sarcastica font.

2 - Return of the facepalm emoji.

Wow this guy is impressive, I am very happy with this.

even to the point where he made about Casey into a positive and an improvement he plans to make. I think he will drive tough standards but have a way of making these standards ones that everyone is a part of making which will get people involved and on board.

Great to hear him say he wants to work with all premiership players, and move on from questions about the past, avoided "headline" questions with poise and class.

Guerra also fantastic, not buying into stupid comments or questions from the media which by god there were some. He looks to be a strong and articulate leader!

And my fav part of all of this was the fact Brad Green could not wipe the smirk of his face when asked about Caufield, he tried and then it came straight back. Which to me(maybe i am reading into it too much) means something significant has been agreed on.

Bring on 2026!

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
