I like Sullivan Robey, Xavier Taylor, Dyson Sharp, Josh Lindsay and Lochy Dovaston.

I'd be very happy to add 2 of that group to our list in exchange for Trac.

Robey and dovaston would my dream two, with Robey going to end as the best player in the draft and dovaston as our desperate need

would not be against farrow though

2 deep who are they?

Duff-Tyler, Duursma, Sharpe and Marsh can all play. There’s others showing form late as happens every year and moving up the boards.

There may not be the depth of other drafts but there’s still good players in there and there will be late gems unearthed

Duff-Tyler and Duursma are the 2. Sharp and Marsh are nothing special.

Dees need to match StKilda offer… I’m all for it. Flanders is young and knows how to find the ball and is an elite kick, exactly the player we need. 900k over 5 years is quite fair I think. Cheap in the long term deal. He will slot into the #9 quite nicely…

Gold Coast will be looking for a player (Petracca) who can impact and finals proven now in return. Therefore, I think the Dees would be Suns preferred trading partner.

I will be quite surprised if Flanders isn’t in a Melbourne jumper next year…! He will be our trading priority.

@Redleg ??? Suns B&F 2025 ??? I think he’d be Flanders behind Rowell, Anderson (of course), Witts, Collins, Miller, Humphrey, Long, King, Uwland, Rioli, Noble. So he’d struggle to get into their top 10 in the B&F in 2025.

You could be right, they haven't had it yet, I just had last year's result.

Petracca and 23 to the Suns

6, 7 and Budarick to the dees?

I’d be happy with just 6&7 for Trac and 23 tbh

Flanders is hardly an elite kick.

I don't think I could cope if we had Xavier Lindsay, Xavier Taylor, and Josh Lindsay

Told ya. It’s all about them $$$$$$

As always with player movement, certainly with players who are getting games.

Less so for fringe players "seeking more game time", but Flanders is fairly established.

Honestly, neither of us would have any real idea ...

Ross Lyon left the Saints in a horrible hole when he walked out on them last time and he may well do it again.

Flanders has played one very good (not great) season. And been average aside from that.

A million a year is a lot

Just HOW big is the Aints war chest ??

So would I but I can’t see GC giving that up and if they trade both picks they will not have enough points

How are the Saints finding all this money in their cap space?

Geelong do it somehow.

Maybe there are some hidden market gardens near Linton Street??

I see a B Grade midfielder who has no ability to play forward. We already have enough of those (Oliver, Viney, Culley). We need players who can impact on the periphery. The game has changed and we need to go for high half forwards who can transition run.

Culley, in his limited exposure, has done quite a bit forward, and can grab a decent mark.

Ahh.. the broad and beautiful acres of Moorabin. So much nicer than Torqua or Bellarine...

Bub do we detect a whiff of sarcasm in your previous post? Spent my formative years there. Oakleigh Skyline Drive-In was nearby, as was the notorious South Side Six. Phillip Morris is still there but WD & HO Wills has moved on.

3/4 time at Linton St in the team huddle, some preferred to puff on a ciggy than suck on citrus. Saints’ war chest is it just smoke and mirrors?

Certainty.

In fairness, their list is currently so shockingly bad they needed to do what they've done (or seem to have done) this trade period, but the chances of it succeeding are extremely low.

The team that won more games than us this year with shockingly bad list...OK

I think our list is slightly better but without doubt we been badly coached for some time now.

We will rebound with an exciting game plan that stimulates the team, rather than boring them to tears.

Hearing King is designing a game plan where we will be kicking into equal numbers in a forward line....that in itself would be massive, let alone "allowing" the team to play with freedom and using some flair. Really bullish of us having much better year, even if it is with similar list!

Actually have fond memories of the Linton ground. Mate and his brothers all rabid Ainters. Sitting up on the wall behind the northern goals... laughing as kids on their bikes nicked the wayward sherrins. Watching the animal enclosure off to our right... lovely chaps 😉. Took turns getting the tinnies. Good days. Been to that Drive in but preferred Sandy. Now the stories about the 6 😉 lol

You may recall the old Moorabin hotel... another salubrious establishment.

I see now how i might have been hasty..

So my (quite obvious) take is he is ours to lose: Saints offer is out there and I'm assuming the other "serious interest" is us and it's just a matter of waiting for King to take the reins (throne), make the formal offer (probably match) or not.

Saints offer is the most generous he could hope for, anyone in his position would be advised to take it. So the fact he hasn't accepted yet means he's waiting on us.

They said on Trade Radio yesterday that Essendon were offering more coin than Saints

Didn't mention exact figures though

Wow OK then. Can't imagine it would be that much more, although the state of essendrug right now, who knows.

I have a feeling we land him.

St Kilda’s ladder position and W-L record flattered them significantly. Their last 4 wins were all by a kick. Huge amounts of luck required (none more so than against us).

They’d be kidding themselves if they thought they did well this year; their aggressive trade approach is consistent with them acknowledging they are nowhere right now.

What’s sad is that despite all that, they have more members than us.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
