TASMANIA v. SANDRINGHAM

Recommended Posts

On Saturday, Sandringham travels to Tassie's Aurora Stadium to take on the hapless bottom of the ladder Tassie Devils in a match that starts at 6.30pm. The Zebras will not take the game lightly because the Devils are always hard to beat on home soil and Sandy will not be at full strength with full forward Nick Sautner away overseas with his studies. The strength of the Demon contingent in the team will be not be the greatest with the club's growing injury list. I'll try to get the teams for the game up as early as possible on Thursday.

The Reserves have a bye this week.

Can anyone tell me why the game is being played in Nonsenston?

Our corrupt govt gets the Gunn's Hawks matches played there at 'Pork Barrel Park' - you think we could at least get this one game against last year's premiers in the State capital.

I've had a bit of a scrub around but can't find anything in relation to an internet radio stream of the game. The VFL site still has last week's games up of course. Anyone know what we might expect?

Yep, disappointing. Shame, I've always enjoyed the Devils / Sandy games, as I've been to every one that was in Hobart.

Enjoy Zebraman. We look forward to your report on how the game went.

In the meantime, if anyone out there wants to join Zebraman its not too late to "take a break" and get down to Tassie and help the Zebs at the same time.

Book your trip with TasTravel who have some fantastic footy packages. To check these out go to : www.discovertasmania.com/sportspkg/football, or you can tailor your own "short break".

Tas Travel support the VFL Competition and the more bookings made gives our club a better chance to win a fantastic prize of a gourmet Tasmanian food and wine hamper, valued at $800 which can be auctioned or raffled at the end of the year.

Win or lose, everyone kicks a goal when you take up this offer.

Contact 1300 655 145 or visit www.tastravel.com to book your holiday and then send your booking number to the SFC office to ensure the club is in the running for the Hamper which SFC can use as a raffle for the club.

NOTE: With a little bit of ingenuity, you can book your return in time to see Mark Riley take the Demons to his first win as AFL coach against Carlton.

A further scratch around indicates to me that there may be no broadcast of any kind of this match, over-the-air, streaming internet or even two jam tins with string stretched between them. Tassie radio is a bit depressing generally, enough to drive you to drink.

Tis quite a nice stadium actually, especially on a nice clear nite. Was counting on going up but finances are stretched to the limit this week. Have a great time, GO ZEBS! Should be an absolute flogging! (sorry tassie, have to be a traitor this week!)

Don't bet on it being an absolute flogging. Sandringham won't have too many MFC listed players to choose from this week given our injury list.

It'd be interesting to see Sandy's forward line if Newton, Dunn and Miller all line up for the Dees with Sautner also not available.

The ground on the stand side has a fairly straight boundary and on the other side it has a sweeping arc. Most unusual. At least we know which side of the ground is the fat one.

one of the good things about this is that if dunn doesnt play for the mfc, he will get a chance to play as a KP in the forward line with no newton, or miller there, an opportunity he hasnt had for a while.

overall a pretty strong backline however. sandy still look too strong for me in this game.

Same hopefully goes for Frawley who hasn't played a full game at any level since the season started.

For those who have Digital, the ABC2 channel is now showing Tassie home games a week later at 1.30am on Sunday mornings. I'm not certain whether this applies to evening fixtures.

No it doesn't.

Only to Saturday afternoon Devils VFL games at Bellerive or Saturday AFL curtain raiser matches in Launceston.

It was cold with a few showers today in Launceston with a maximum of 11C. Same expected for tonight. The feeling in Tassie is that Sandringham is vulnerable in the wet having played poorly a few weeks ago against Box Hill.

Quarter time and the Tassie Devils have a narrow 1 point lead ...

Tassie 3.1.19

Sandringham 2.6.18

thanks a heap for the updates!

Go Zebs!

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
