100% agree.

But I think a key factor to support Adams to thrive is Petty going back and taking the oppo's best key forward freeing Adams up to play Lever's zone off interceptor role.

Adams is an excellent kick, better than Lever, so if we can get him intercepting around the half back line and settimg up transition chains.

So if the three key backs are say Adams, Petty and Lever, does that mean Turner (who i rate as our best key back and key forward prospect) goes forward again?

I see this as the new coach putting his stamp on the place, specifically in regards to behavior and attitude. Sking is showing the list (inc May) that no one is protected and there are new standards in place.

I don't think this is actually about getting rid of May but more around standards. It may well be too late for a trade to get worked out, though Melbourne would be foolish not to get his salary off the books for someone younger that doesn't abuse the Club Captain on the field.

You'd think the Bombers would have some salary cap free (do they have a list?), they need some help down back (and up forward, and in the midfield, and in the medical room) and they have picks.

Great points

WB is the only team that really makes sense as they a desperate for a Key Back

Bulldogs aren't interested in May. There's a few clubs he could go to.

Greater Western Sydney are looking for experienced tall defenders

West Coast may look at adding experience to their backline after losing Barrass and McGovern

Sydney's list is still good enough to contend but they need to bolster their defence

North Melbourne are looking to add experience to their backline as they're interested in Jake Lever, but if they don't get him they could go for May

WB haven't come out a said they ain't interested

They would be delusional to say they have no interest considering the spuds they had back

Well actually they have.

Don’t discount Carlton.

Silvagni gone, McGovern likely gone and O’Farrell injured and out for the year.

I think surely he would and that is part of the equation.

His contract was extended when he was one of our best.

Wasn’t his contract only extended last year

King and JUH would have worked together at the Dogs in 2021 so you never know?

Makes sense for both teams

Yes, when he was an automatic choice as our FB.

We did it before the season which was a stupid and completely unnecessary decision.

Turner forward, JVR moved back. I believe JVR was as good at CHB in his Under 18 games as he was up forward. And Turner seems a natural the few times he played forward.

Straight swap for JUH?

You must be the only person in Australia who is unaware of the extent and seriousness of JUH's issues.

Would not touch with a barge load of barge poles.

I would suspect our tall backs will then be Petty, Turner, Adams and Lever with TMac and Derksen as back ups. If we get Mihocek as a free agent, we've replaced May at a lower cost, while giving the forwards a taller mentor. I can see this being a last hour trade, but getting done. There are very few teams who are truely set down back, so there will be a market for him, possibly only the Hawks, Geelong, Brisbane, Freo and Adelaide don't have a tall back as a need.

Don't know why people keep clutching at this straw.

May was told back in August. Nothing to do with King.

Edit: Apparently this may not have been the case. Can't delete, but would otherwise. Though if May's exit interview was delayed (from August), this must have already been in consideration prior to this.

Point of thought.

Lever is kinda struggling . Not a certainty imho.

Three more likely candidates are Adams, Petty and Turner.

Whose to say Petty WILL play back ? He might...might .

A lot to play out yet in terms of list. I'm fascinated.

He actually wasn’t told in August. His exit meeting was yesterday morning, and that’s when he was told. The news was leaked (accidentally) late on Wednesday evening not directly to Tom Morris but to “the wrong people” and it’s made its way to Morris yesterday morning BEFORE Maysie was told.

Not gonna say who accidentally leaked it because as far as Maysie’s concerned, it was genuinely an accident, so it doesn’t matter who it was because there was no intent of malice.

This is what I’ve been told by a close mate of Maysie’s who is also a close mate of mine.

This is by no means directed at you, Bing. Those at whom it IS directed know exactly who they are:

If you don’t believe it… fine, but you really don’t need to come on here waving your measuring tapes around. Or, if you have no self-control (along with your inherent nastiness and personal shortcomings) go right ahead, make the smart-arze comments. This time Ima let ‘em go through to keeper, just like Binman said I should.

How's he taking the news Ghosty? About what he was told at his exit meeting, not about how it became public knowledge.

@Ghostwriter how come May had his exit interview so late? or did he have a second one following King’s appointment?

Do you think the person who accidentally leaked it is someone who has leaked previously, or someone totally random who made a genuine boo boo?

He’s understandably disheartened and disappointed about the news he received at the exit meeting. But he’s furious about how it was made public before he even knew.

Some of the players were told a while ago that their exit meetings were being delayed, so you’d think that’d give those players an uncomfortable feeling. Maybe it did with some, clearly not so with Maysie.

The person who accidentally leaked it is definitely NOT someone who’s leaked before, nor are they someone who would leak deliberately.

Thanks for clarifying.

Wondering if he was told explore your options and see if anyone is keen, or explore your options if you want to be an AFL club next year.

The leak has made it sound pretty nasty from our end, which is both crappy for May and also doesn’t help his value in the market. However in truth it might not be quite that sinister, and more an open and honest discussion about where we see May’s future in the best 22.

My understanding was that the exit meetings were held in the last week of August? This chimes with our earlier delistings.

Accept your explanation of course, though across the AFL all the exit meetings for teams not in finals seem to have been held in that week in August. Not sure why May's would have been delayed?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
