I know people want to know if the AFL listed players are in attendance, but I want to know if anyone has eyes or Buckley? 🤣

Was wondering the same thing.

Great win by the Dees..

Now to the Pine trees of Frankston.

Lovely post match interview with Young Yze

Good win from the boys. Defence looked good and organised with Sestan, Howes and Adams playing nicely. Tholstrup and Woey Jnr looked good from what I saw, so did AJ and Luker. Yze and Cross from the VFL list were brilliant as well

Just now, whatwhat say what said:

but we can presumably match with points etc - same as any other father-son selection

I’ve tried asking a straight forward question on this…seems we are no closer to an answer

As dominant Casey have been, Williamstown have been weak and poor. Their coach must be furious.

So many positives for both Dees and Casey.

When you ask Google ai

Yes, you can nominate for a father-son spot a second time if you don't get picked up, but you will need to renominate for the current year's draft because AFL Draft nominations are valid for only one year. If you are not selected by the club in the first year you nominate, you have the option to re-enter the draft process in the following year by renominating.

Thank you. I assume that there was some arrangement made, given he has continued at Casey this year.

Poor Charles. They attempted to put his shoulder back in while he was on the bench. Unfortunately it didn’t work and the pain etched on his face was hard to see

Dislocated shoulders HURT, as I discovered when a friend fell on me at the end of the Time Warp. Even breathing hurt because it moved my shoulder. Poor Spargod. He won't be able to lift that arm up/outwards for a few days.

Full time at Casey Fields

Casey 20 goals 12 behinds

Seagulls 8 goals 8 behinds

Casey Demons progress to the 1st semi-final V Frankston Dolphins

Bring you bucket and spade.

Campbell, Laurie, Yze I thought were the best.

The one that surprised me was Fullarton who played much better than expected.

Obviously Yze is worth another look. Kolt and Howes played as they should.

Well done Casey.

So what do we make of this for the future? We had the bye so it was probably expected we'd win comfortably .... which we outdid.

Some twerp on Facebook claimed only two of the Melbourne-listed players are AFL standard. But they're way off, yes? Plus there'd be a few from today they'll persist with for another year (as well as drafting Yze) So what's the realistic assessment?

Culley needs to tie his hair back. Seemed to distracted him having to push it back all the time.

Having said that he dwarfed the Willy mids. Very strong and he was tagged in the mid. Played well today.

Seems to have more confidence since he played in the AFL with us.

He definetly has potential to improve and play regular AFL footy.

Is viewing the VFL finals on the AFL app restricted to viewers in Victoria? All home and away games were viewable for me in NSW, but when I tried viewing today’s game I kept getting a message saying I can’t view from outside of Australia (maybe they have a shortage of error messages?).

I could still view it on the 7+ app on my TV, but the streaming picture quality was atrocious!!

1 hour ago, whatwhat say what said:

he was interviewed at half time and asked about what he needs to do to get into the afl - "i need to keep working to improve everything; if i want to be picked i need to take a spot from viney, claz, or trac"

he's been very good in the vfl all year but he's too slow, small, and poorly skilled to make it in the afl imo

you certainly wouldn't pick him ahead of those three he highlighted, and that doesn't even include pickett, rivers, or anyone else rolling through the midfield

in an ideal world he'd compete with sparrow, but the latter is much better running the defensive half forward patterns role than laurie

I disagree. He has never had a run in midfield in ones. He has attributes Sparrow hasnt. He deserves a go next season.

Fullerton has been great at CHB for the last 6 weeks. B o G twice. Definitely retain him another year. Our key defensive ranks are thin

Great win :

Starting with the backline. Adams played his best game for the club, could be something when May and Lever retire. Sestan was great too bad he's been injury prone so the problem I see with him is we could want some rookie picks for the rookie draft. Yze, Cross, Hardie and Bonner all worthy of rookie picks. Howes was excellent.

The midfield well Laurie was sensational. Just needs a chance to cement a spot and he could be very valuable for us. Tholstrup was great he's taken his new position like a duck to water in the middle. I like him there. Culley continuing on his good form at AFL level. Campbell's been a great recruit even though he hasn't played a game, continues to be a champion at VFL level. If we pick up Heath it's hard to see him get another go but he has been a worthy pick up. Woewodin was good but like Sestan they may want picks in the national draft.

The forward line. Yze was sensational hopefully we can recruit him as a rookie pick absolutely worth it on that performance. Cross is a smokey to get picked in the rookie draft but he knows were the goals are and is a terrific mark for his size. Kentfield and Johnson haven't done enough yet but they can take a mark so that puts them ahead of van Rooyen and Jefferson. I think Kentfield could have a break out game any minute now.

As in Who's that bloke standing next to Ghosty?

Ghosty looked happy btw

Tholstrup showed plenty. A strong finals series could be just what he needs.

Mentha has been quiet despite the good wins of late. Perhaps he's playing a role that I have not noticed.

As a team still just a little too much boundary line ball movement for my liking but way better skills by hand and foot. Strong goal kicking accuracy for such a windy day

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
