there was 2 inncidents 2night,

1) occured all night mainly first half..... laycock pushing white before hittin the ball? PLEASE EXPLAIN anyone who watched this closley must know wat i mean.... this cannot be deemed legal!

2) Tripping is no longer a free kick? blind sided umpire? can the boundary umpire blow his whistle COZ THAT WAS [censored]... bruce should have taken a free, but instead turnover goal!.

for me at least a third ( mentioned elswhere.,.but in theme here )

Hird after being awarded 50 m penaly ..continued to harrass and hassle . He is meant to go to the point of the new mark as soon as possible, not interfere with the player.. why wasnt a secondary 50 awarded... talk about double standards !!

Funny how golden boy got the equal highest amount of frees for the night

agreee completely, and the umpire wasnt blindsided in the tripping contest. he was side on and 15 metres away, bruce had his arms wide apart and even looked at the umpire and the umpire called play on.

regarding the rucks, thats happening more and more and is not policed. whites advantage is his leap, so i dont know if its a tactic used against white specifically but it seems to be happening often, running at the other player, jumping into them, and then tapping the ball. it is against the rules and should be payed to white.

Umpire S.Grun was responsible for the poorest work last night. The majority of bad decisions were his. I'm not just saying this because his adjudication was 15-3 in favour of Essendon. A real shocker. Off to Horsham next week.

Can anyone tell me if the 30 sec shot at goal rule is still in effect?

Whenver lloyd had a shot at goal he took longer and one shot was 42 seconds.

If it was Neitz or one of ours im sure they would of called play on

Please don't blame the umpires.

We had plenty of chances to bury them and simply didn't take them.

Thank you. At least there is one other person on here that agrees with me.

Yeah, he is a hack who didn't deserve any of them.

Exactly!

Blaming the umpires is a weak cop-out.

I'm blaming our players who can't protect leads.

Daniel Motlop

Brad Johnson

Andrew Swallow

Scott Lucas

also haven't helped matters.

Agree entirely.

For all the mindless whinging about umpires and how biased they are against MFC, it living proof that those people see what they want to see and that is not much.

Of all the decisions that was costly there could be none more penalising than the goal umpire who deprived Lloyd with a two grab mark on the goal line in the last quarter. The goal umpire called the second grab across the line when he was clearly blindsided by it and the replay showed it was in the play.

Funny how there was no comment on that.

Ash 30, FWIW, I like many others think the James Hird is an out and out champion no matter how many times he has towelled Melbourne.

i must say the umpiring department should look at the richmond st kilda game and tell the others "please watch this and umpire the game like this"

Well said davey_magik.....

And while the umpires didn't really help our situation, they certainly didn't cost us the game.

We managed that all by ourselves :( !!!

And I agree with condemned, in that the Richmond-St Kilda game was a great example of how this game should be taken care of.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
