How do you feel when somebody stuffs your name up?

Couldn’t care less. I’m not egotistical enough to correct them. Feel bad for someone who does.

This also isn’t about someone getting my name wrong, it’s about someone this punter will never meet.

I'm fine with you being happy to be wrong

People spell and pronounce my first name wrong a lot. I could not give a rats! Just call me Bob (not my name).

Communication is about interacting, not being correct. If there is confusion, then you need to correct the situation. But hey…. It takes all personality types.

You must be fun at parties.

Ps. No one cares.

Just because you don’t care doesn’t mean nobody cares. You were given the correct spelling of a misspelled name in a civil way, there’s no reason for you to be offended.

PS: I’m a proofreader and I’m hella fun at parties 🥳 🎉 🤩

I’m not offended. I just don’t care if I spelled the name wrong on a fans forum. I’m not writing a dissertation where it counts, as well as he knew what I meant. It’s really just unnecessary.

I don’t doubt you’re fun, I have seen your posts 😂 old mate is a different kettle of fish.

You think it’s unnecessary? Personally I appreciate being corrected because it means I’ve learned something.

Except when it’s @Demonstone because the bastard is always right 😝 But I’m proud to say I once picked him up on an error. It was in a previous incarnation and in a PM so folks will just have to take my word for it.

nah, I’m not interesting on being corrected on a simple error, between McRae and Macrae or similar. It was evident who I meant.

I’ll happily be corrected on things I’m no where close, ie stats, which club a player plays at or something. that’s where I’ll learn a lot.

I see your perspective though and respect it.

Collingwood just delisted for, Charlie Dean, Markov, McRae.

If May goes, Markov not a bad look in.

Do they pronounce the first 't' as a 'd' by any chance?

Just call me Bob BBB. 😉🤣

Gee finlay McRae must feel hard done by. Always told by Collingwood he’s a required player despite multiple clubs trying to get him out of there. Now delisted

Always liked Finnley MacRaye.

The odious question is, should Melbourne be targeting Fiddly Merkin?

Communication is also about respect, and that starts with making an effort to acknowledge people's name or preferred form of address.

I agree, pointing out one’s mistakes can also be disrespectful. Case in point here. I would hope once corrected the effort would be made.

This takes me back to the Jack Trengrove and Jeff Gartlett days.

Genuinely thought he was going to be a dangerous forward for the pies for years to come.

So did I. His finals series in the year he looked really dangerous was eye opening. Absolutely went to water.

I actually met Jack Trengove in Adelaide and got a picture with him, did a Facebook post and got him to check it before I posted it and accidentally had written Trengrove.

He was extremely polite and advised me of the correct spelling, just a really nice guy, disappointing how his career ended but I'll never forget how great of a bloke he is.

He spent his early career in covid times and couldn't break into a midfield that had the likes of DeGoey, Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Daicos x 2, Crisp etc. With a fresh chance, he could make it at another club. I really liked him in his draft year and was hopeful we'd draft him. He performed midfield at underage level and his key strength was his disposal skills. He was one you'd want as the kick inside 50.

It hasn't worked out for him at Collingwood, but he's only 23 and could be had for nothing as a delisted free agent. Worst case, he'd add midfield depth. Best case, he becomes the player he promised to be pre-draft - a classy midfielder.

Should chase him IMO.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
