I’d put Elliot, Pendles, Sidebottom, Jaicos and Hill in that camp. The rest can GOGF.

You can delete Hill from that list.

I agree, we are in more hurt than what people realise. Plummeting memberships, questions over the coach's future, a few top line players wanting out last year, form drop, no CEO, basically no president, no identifiable training ground...... I think it's all hitting home and sadly, this all worries me as a club.

gross mismanagement right at the period when we experienced an ounce of success.

Nah I don’t mind him, loveable scamp in my eyes

Dearest @Ghostwriter, if you ever decide on cognitive-behavioral therapy, relationship-based interventions, systemic interventions, psychoeducational interventions, systemic family therapy, trauma-focused CBT or intensive service provision . . . we are here for you my love. And I'm contactable Monday, Wednesday and Sunday evenings post-game at the therapeutic residential/day care service if you need anything.

No doubt about it, you’re a sweetheart, QD. But no amount of any of the above would help, for one can’t masquerade as a Carlton supporter* for 20 years without retaining a soft spot for them. I’m just happy I still get invited to family functions 😁

*it’s a long story, I’ve explained it here before and I don’t wanna bore folks by repeating it.

You have to chuckle about the interest in a player like Silvagni.

It does however underscore the failure of unrestricted free agency in that all it has done is push up the retention value of the better players

4 years for Silvagni is bizarre. He has been dropped numerous times by a rabble of a club

Mihocek is an interesting one. 33 by round 1 next year so obviously a risk but we are desperate

We'd have to offer something stupid to get him to leave - like a 3 year deal

Agreed that we are absolutely desperate and he's a good fit for our forward line right now.

I think two years would be enough, three too much.

What is so annoying but predictable is the way that ANY thread on this site gets sabotaged by people bagging out club and our players. FFS stick to the Goody thread please, because I can safely ignore the idiocy in that thread.

As for Mihocek: I've always thought he was a really good player, but don't we already have a smart, perceptive, midsized forward who plays above his height level? His name is Jake Melksham. And if you put both of them in the forward line, and have another 2 or 3 smalls, that doesn't leave much room for developing power forwards like we would like JVR, Jeffo and Kentfield to be. And let's not forget our top goalkicker for a number of years, Fritta.

So I think Mihocek would be a good get if we didn't have Milkshake, but we do.

He's played three VFL games. Ever.

I reckon he's a really solid footballer.

Dropped numerous times is an exaggeration but he has been dropped a couple of times as recently as 2022.

Solid player but nothing special

Wouldn't surprise me if Melksham retires at the end of this season.

Brodie is considerably taller than Jake Ollie and marks above his head whereas Jake generally outmanouvers his opponent. Different types of players.

I suspect a lot of 'everything ' is in flux currently. Much might depend on what happens at eos.

Brody and Jake are two completely different players..

Respected him hugely over the journey but you couldn't guarantee he'd put the same effort in for us - especially if they win flag this year. Great player but I'd pass and go for someone younger with something to prove.

Sam Darcy it is then

Well while Tim Lamb is in charge there is every chance we offer him a long contract.

I reckon it would be the only way to tempt him over to us

probable result - he’ll stay at the Pies

Doubt it happens but would be good, him and Melky are both very smart, crafty players.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andĀ  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
