Where is Brad Green? Writing letters to members through pre season, haven’t heard from him for a while now.

Richardson, Lamb, Goodwin, who is keeping this lot accountable, as what they have put together this year and last on and off the field is pathetic!

I can’t comprehend how the currents in charge can take us forward.

How do we attract players to our club and members with what we are producing.

Change is needed.

Paul Roos and PJ must be shaking their heads after all the work they put in to turn this club around.

The letter from Brad Green in November last year talking about the review is just laughable now, “we think we have the list and coaching staff to take us back to finals in 2025” nothing to see here.

Today was gameday and I was farken pumped for the big game. Now I’m farken livid. I’m generally a very positive and supportive person when it comes to my beloved Dees but that 4th quarter was farken ridiculous.

Paul Guerra needs to get his butt into the joint pronto and have a come to Jesus meeting with Goody and entire coaching staff.

Enough is enough already.

Whoever it is can't sack everyone. It would be GWS or Gold Coast in their first few seasons but without the 10000000 first round picks.

I remember the assessment of Scott Morrisson as 'wanting the title of the job but not the actual job'.

I suspect there's a whirlwind of personal rivalries and oneupmanship motivating a lot of what goes on at the 'leadership' levels of the club, which goes in a circle, or perhaps a see-saw, or perhaps a see-saw on a merry-go-round.

Time for a wild analogy;

During the constantly on again off again strife and civil wars of Greece, every time there was a change of government there would be a purge of the armed forces officers, and naturally those no unemployed and insulted officers would ally themselves with whichever they considered the most likely opposition to seize power back or next.

The end result was that by the early-mid 20th century there were typically three available officers for every actual position. One holding the position and two straining to get back into it by first overthrowing the regime and secondly competing with the other displaced officers.

Looks like Melbourne has something like that, and every person currently sating their vanity with the glory of being a VIP around the club is mirrored by others craving a return.

As they say in the classics; "A position soundly reasoned must be held against opposition, but opinion held onto motivated by a feeling of opposition itself is the path to disaster."

Vehement factional opposition to Goodwin has been visible since before the premiership.

This awful moment will probably give that faction the final surge of influence to cause a spill.

But short of another messianic Roos-Jackson style combination, I fear that no matter who comes into the club they will immediately face resentment and undermining from the 'purged officers', the wannabe VIPs who actually contribute so little, and thus the slow-burning civil war will continue.

No one is running our club !!

Whoever is responsible for current circumstances should go with the whole coaching department.

Sad as it is we need Peter Jackson to come back and remind everyone how it should be done.

How we got too 2021 must of been a fluke

The members had a chance to stir up the club by bringing in some new blood and give the board a bit of a rocket at the last board election, instead they all voted for the status quo.

I am hoping a new ticket will form for this year and the membership will finally realise that it is being scammed by these self-serving characters on the MFC board and turf them out and give a new team a chance. The status quo is destroying the club.

The people who are complaining most vehemently here about the team performance and the club are the same ones who poured scorn on the alternative board challengers last year.

I don’t know about factions within the hierarchy at Melbourne, but to have had a rudderless club for the entire season is inexcusable. Any organisation which has no direction from board or leadership is only going one way.

I respect Brad Green for getting involved and initiating change, but to have appointed a CEO and President who can’t start until September, means that this season has always effectively been a dead rubber, as any major decisions are unable to be made until then.

Therefore, the thousands of dollars that we have forked out for memberships (especially those deluded supporters, like me, who still get guaranteed GF tickets should the Demons make it) have effectively been wasted, as the football team has no clear direction or purpose.

As members and supporters, it is up to us to demand change and accountability. I don’t necessarily believe in cancelling memberships, because we are supporting our club, but we MUST hold those in leadership accountable and ensure that they hold the same high standards and expectations that we have, for our club.

We, as the custodians, have the absolute right to insist that those put in charge of running this great club are completely accountable for the way they do so.

Then suddenly Caro has the news… it’s PAUL GUERRA … but wait , we have to wait another 4+ months for him to arrive in September 2025 … after the season is over !! Well. What a mess !! Was he last man standing ?!?!?!

Now in crisis , we have no CEO to truly make the footy department accountable!! Who’s sacking Goodwin?? No one !!!

l completed the last online MFC member survey and gave the club a real bake for the first time. I received no feedback so the next one they send will be going straight into the deleted emails folder. Are they listening to what members saying?

After today, I will have no game day expectation and much less game by game interest until the season concludes. Angry AND numb, if that is possible.

Strangely enough though, the off field leadership is not an area of concern for me. Steve Smith returns in September and will be handed the presidency, and at almost the same time Paul Guerra will begin as CEO. Both these people impress me.

I don't see them "initiating a review". I see some PJ-like decisions, where they will simply and quietly bring certain personnel decisions to an end.

Not all our board members are duds, not all our coaches, etc... but we needs these two men to place their hands on the handlebars of the behemoth that is the MFC, and provide strong, immediate change.

I hope for all our sakes that you’re right, regarding the new leadership. It’s been an amateurish rabble for the past couple of years, with no accountability. Seems like everybody has been punching each other’s tickets to keep themselves in a job.

The bigger issue is the fact that barring a single season in 2021, our team has been a serial choker for the last 15 years, regardless of who's in charge. we have a culture of failure. Spend less money on coaches, more on psychologists. Clarrys running shot for goal in the last was always going out on the full before he even approached the ball. [censored] scared of failure.

This to Brad Green tonight

The first game of footy I remember is the ’64 flag, and it was a great day. Dark days followed - brightened up along the way by Flower, Schwartz, Green, Yze, Stynes, Neitz and Gawn. Northey and Daniher were hard men who took us to Grand Finals, and then Peter Jackson arrived and sorted the place out. We win a flag based on structures he and Paul Roos put in place. 

Since then, all downhill. Internal board ructions, on-field straight set exits from final series (with a truly generational list) and a steady return to irrelevant mediocrity.

Today’s loss was the worst day of my football following life. Worse than Buckenara in ’87; worse than 186 at Kardinia Park. The last quarter today put the ineptitude of our Club on full display. And the ending – accurately described by Kane Cornes as “the worst 69 seconds in AFL history” – was beyond inept.

None of the Melbourne players seeming to know the rules. Wanganeen-Milera clearing the St. Kilda forwards out to the right, and he sprints off to the left, and marks. Viney 30m away, Bowey looking the other way, Max still in the circle! Put 4 forwards in the middle for the taking of the free-kick, and put the best contested mark in the comp at Centre Half Back.

The Melbourne players, as well as being shell-shocked, seemed not to know what to do – to lack information. That is surely on the coaching team?

I have been reassured to hear that the leadership of the Club is not “interim” - neither the President, nor the CEO. That is very good news, because if ever there was need for executive action, it’s now. This loss, the manner of the loss, and the way our club now is viewed all pose an serious risk to the club. If it’s not addressed, then the rather grim '70s might just look like a golden era.

Well, if he disagrees with that title, he can demonstrate it in the next few weeks.
