there will be many arguments left right and centre after tonights abysmal performance. It would have actuall ebbn bettter if we hadnt turned up...at least people might have been left guessing as to how good or bad we really are when assessed against the bottom ( previously winless ) team.

Now no one needs to gues.. we all know !!.

All those with their magical calculators who seemed to be living in la-la land thinking some lazarus like revival was upon us can we all now agree that this season is toast. Yes we may well get a few more points on the board but nothing to upset the social secretaries come september.

Ill leave the discussions as to the why's and reasons for our predicament.. but a show of hands please..

just a simpl eyeah or naye..

Season 2007 dead and buried

roll on 2008. Lets start it now.

Is 2007 dead...for me YES !!

While I agree that this year is shot to [censored] in respect to finals........

I believe that there is still a huge amount to play for, and learn, that will hopefully benefit us in the future.

Only if instead of Holland (he's great, I love him, but he's just a bloody ordinary footballer), Yze, Ward, Brown, Godfrey etc etc... we play guys like Dunn, Newton, CJ, Buckley.

If we keep playing the same side and let our future rot at Sandy, we might as well not turn up at all.

This is precisely why I don't care if Petterd or Frawley or Jones or McLean stuff up 100 times and have shocking games. They will improve, while 30 year olds who were never any good to begin with, won't. And if they don't improve, we'll find out sooner instead of later, and we'll act.

There is so much dead wood on our list, and sadly, so many highly-paid players who don't give a stuff about this club and who put in pathetic performances on a regular basis. They should be the ones punished this week.

Go on Daniher, I dare you to make a statement and drop Bruce or Green or Davey. Hell, drop Brock McLean if it teaches our players a lesson.

(Note: PLEASE DON'T DROP BROCK MCLEAN!)

For crying out loud....

THE SEASON WAS SHOT AFTER ROUND 3!!!!!!!!!

Can we agree that this is the last "is our season over" thread?!

It's been all about the small pleasures for months now... e.g. Jones, Bate, Petterd, Brock etc etc

hahahahaha i could imagine our face if you read mclaen had been dropped, i think the world would hear an almighty "WTF!"

he will continue to play the duds, has for the last 10 years and will do so until the ned of the year, he would be thinking 5-6 wins and i might have a sniff at a new contract. my dad said to me pre game that he listened to ND all week and thought he seemed really dis-interested in this weeks game, i think he was right.

He is just about the only reason I can still watch Melbourne games and not throw up.

If it wasn't for him, and another small group of youngsters, I would seriously consider giving up on this season. As it is, I go out of my way every single week to watch them, and so if McLean is not there, or if Ricky is wasted on the bench for half the match, I quite seriously flip out.

The Melbourne Football Club has taken years off my life already.

thankyou for those that participated so far..

those that addressed the intentioned question.

Finally no one is purporting that there can be any ohter motive for the rest of 'this ' season other than to use it as a springboard to next year. That in my mind means playing some otherwise questionable tactics ( posibly direct footy, if MFC can remember how ) . the playing of seemingly underving youth despite their supposed unsuitablility ant this juncture of their careers !!. The realisation that this will possibly result in theoretical less competiveness whilst a new team gels and gains in experience and stature. That translates into ...'we may not win as a result"....be a shock result huh !!.

It means more short term pain for longer term gain. Bt at least we're directing it and not simply participating as a pasenger for the rest of the season.

The MFC might also wish to take note ... you are there because we put you there.. Some may not wish to take the intent of all we ..'fickle' members for granted.

There are two ways of voting...some with their feet....some with club ballot boxes!!

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
