Other clubs have picked up players that help their team, Demons not.

our drafting very good, top 3 in AFL.

Our trading - bottom 3 or 2 in AFL!

Roos nailed it years ago.

Draft for talent , Trade for need.

Totally [censored] up the latter imho

Melksham in doubt with an AC injury and technically Kozzie hasn’t been cleared yet of his gut punch yet.

So Pickett gets sanctioned for a gut punch...

The one on Oliver doesn't rate a mention?

Does McVee take Hill or Elliott?

I reckon Disco would be a good matchup for Elliott as he can seriously jump for marks that guy.

Ummmm I’m not a believer to this loading cult - just my opinion

Yes,such cults talk a load

Excluding the round 24 game last year where we basically played our Casey side, our last 3 games against the Pies we are:

6.15 to 14.5

7.11 to 9.6

8.18 to 9.8

In fairness Collingwood had as many players out as we did in round 24.

One team wanted to end the season with some pride, and the other team just wanted the season to end.

But yes, our accuracy has been disgusting against Collingwood recently.

In - Jefferson, JVR

Out - Melksham, AJ

JVR should be able to compete with Frampton in the ruck?

im glass half empty this week. We rarely beat Collingwood. I think the last win I went to against them was when Brent Grgic kicked a late winner. Will see yall on Monday, not looking forward to those feckless fans.

I’m hearing Jack Billings is a red hot chance to return this week, in response to our goal kicking woes.

He’s kicked 4.8 in 17 games for us … he’s a shoe in this week!

I have no idea whether the loading stuff is true or not. I joined the loading cult because the leader was convincing and it provides me some small amount of hope/cope. Plus they give out free snacks at our weekly cult meetings.

My little joke at the loading cult meetings, one fellow cult members roll their eyes at, is - 'here we go, enjoy some carb loading with these delicious pastries'

Having been away for six weeks, I am really keen to head to the 'G and see first-hand where the boys are at.

My one fear is that we bring back Jeffo for AJ - it's been really pleasing reading that Jeffo's starting to become a factor at VFL level but until he is laying tackles then he's not worth promoting again as he will be easy fodder for Moore and co.

I am comfortable with returning Roo as his body will cope with the buffeting and he's had two solid weeks marking and leading up and getting his confidence back.

But my left field choice is selecting Tom Campbell, especially if the Pies go with Mason Cox, which they may well do to make life hard for big Maxy. If Campbell doesn't play this week, he certainly should be in the side to play Port because you can guarantee they will target our skipper and it will be a short break that week.

I also hope we have a long hard look at the wings this week. Sidey and Josh Daicos (if they both play there) are hugely influential and it worries me thinking that we will go with Langford and Lindsay on them, given their youth and the big occasion. It would be nice to think that we would come up with a bit of a shock move to counter them - maybe a hard tag from Bowey or Salem on Sidey, leaving the youngsters to tag team on Josh Daicos, but I know Goody doesn't usually do shock stuff - although he did put ANB on Nick Daicos last year.

If Viney's fit, then Laurie is the unfortunate omission, although it sounds like Jack's hand will take at least another week to mend.

Not sure why Jeffo has to lay tackles ..put pressure on for sure ..I mean Elliot kicked 5 goals and laid 2 tackles ...Jeffo kicked 5 & laid 1 …

Probably the only joy I will get this weekend regarding us playing the filth.

Fond memory.

Thanks Jack 👏

( take note who touched that "almost" goal too 😉 )

Um Jeffo HAS been laying tackles and is being rewarded with frees the last couple of weeks and is converting this to GOALS check the replays!

I would go with inns JVR , JEFFO ,T.MAC and One or Two of WOEY, BROWN DOG, SESTAIN ,CULLEY or THOLSTRUP

Out Either LEVER OR PETTY probably LEVER, LAURIE ,SPARGO, AJ and either WINDSOR, LINDSAY ( Managed)

T.Mac takes Levers spot

Petty to interchange

Rivers to follow Faicos EVERYWHERE

Chin to play defensive role on other Daicos

Disco to play on Elliot

Back then our mid rotations Trac, Clazz, Kossy and one other to at least break even

Pair J.V.R and El Jeffo Cantina with an eye to future and also reward FORM something we tend not to do.! See how that goes! WONT happen of course but I would definately ROLL THIS DICE!😇

Devastated i can't make this game. Think we will put up a fight. My ticket is available if anyone would like it.

Aaron davey is the next slider to go down.

Spoke really well on 360 & what Neale did for not only his football career but his life.

Perhaps we can play May at ff. JVR chf . Turner ,T.Mac and Petty in defence. Lever and Fritsch to be managed.

I've been looking for info on the march to the 'G this year as I intend to join for the first time in a while but I can't find anything about it. Does anyone know if it's still happening?

I found it eventually. It's not promoted by the club or the afl at all but it is on the big freeze website.

Increased security what a laugh, I have NOT been checked with wand detectors, stopped by security or anything at all this year. I've waltzed right in at both Marvel earlier this year and the G. For all the talk about upgrades, yadda, yadda, security is a disgrace. Anyone else had similar experiences?

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
