Casey have been disappointing of late. They were 41 point losers to Southport on Saturday morning but they should beat bottom of the ladder Northern Bullants.

Surely?

Already made the call on Spargo and Sharp being dropped?

Yes I've kept Johnson in for ruck relief. Lever and Viney have to come in.

Agree, Spargo overated by Goodwin and co, Sharp missed 2 easy goals

Just confirming that this is actually round 9, and that there is not another ridiculous bye on the horizon.

The game is being played in Preston at 2:05pm on Saturday 24 May.

Mouthguards in at Casey training tonight

Seriously though, the team played boring footy and needs to learn about quick ball movement and scoring strategy. The 3rd quarter v Southport was a horror show of wasted opportunities and poor decisions. Need to see a huge response this week and a 10+ goal victory is the prediction.

Assuming Lever is match fit. He was on managed minutes against Southport, does he have a full game at VFL level to make sure he is match ready for Collingwood in a few weeks?

Combine the VFL with a pre match lunch at Preston market or at one of the many great Asian eateries in nearby High Street. Yum Cha at the Golden Leaf is top notch as is the various choices of pho and roast ducks that adorn the restaurant windows. The market offers a wide choice including gozleme and other Eastern delights.

The ground itself has lost any form of old world charm so it's hard to picture the days when Preston was an absolute powerhouse in the VFA.

Free parking at the market but being a Saturday it can be hard to find. Always parking at the back of Preston Library from which it's only a few minutes walk.

If Casey can’t win with this team, they’re in deep trouble.

I’m thinking it’s going to be an avalanche of goals and a mighty win for Casey, comeon boys you are overdue, zfullarton, Rooey and Matty Jefferson are all due for a bag. We need a percentage booster.👍😁

Tom McDonald. Rested. Managed.

Can the club call it properly !!!

He wasn't rested or managed. If that was the case, he wouldn't have been named in the team on Thursday (see Melksham 2 weeks back).

He was omitted.

He was omitted.

And not playing at Casey. That’s managed.

Replace Sharp with Cross and the 23rd man who I thought would be Craven but it's Sruk you have the team I've predicted. Hope Roo has a big day hopefully it will give him much needed confidence.

Probably true. Why are some getting worked up about the club just saying 'omitted'. I doubt if TMac is weeping over his museli thinking that some supporters might think he is being dropped for lack of form. He knows what's what and so does the club.

Agreed. This is a complete non event for the key stakeholders.

Being a Northern lad I might head down for a look, decent VFL team on paper... What's the damage for a VFL game?

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
