The Sir Doug Nicholls Round kicks off in Darwin with a Top 4 clash between the Suns and the Hawks.

On Friday night the Swans will be seeking to rebound from a challenging start to the season, while the Blues have the Top 8 in their sights after their sluggish start.

Saturdays matches kick off with a blockbuster between the Collingwood and Kuwarna with the Magpies looking to maintain their strong form and the Crows aiming to make a statement on the road.

The Power face a difficult task to revive their season against a resilient Cats side looking to make amends for their narrow loss last week.

The Giants aim to reinforce their top-eight status, while the Dockers will be looking to break the travel hoodoo.

The sole Saturday game is a critical matchup for both teams, as the Bulldogs strive to cemet their spot in the top six and the Bombers desperately want break into the 8.

Sundays start with a bottom 3 clash between the Tigers and Kangaroos with both teams wanting to avoid the being in wooden spoon contention.

The Round concludes with the Eagles still searching for their first win of the season, while the Saints look to keep their finals hopes alive with a crucial away victory.

    Umpires please put the whistle away unless absolutely necessary this quarter. Watson’s free is an example, grabs ball and handballs the ball away but cops a high touch over the shoulder from the oncoming opponent. The ball had moved on, the touch wasn’t malicious or in any way dangerous, its play on surely. But no whistle yet again and Watson scores. 16 frees paid in quarter one.

    Great to see Newcomb getting called twice already for chucking it. Seriously don’t think he knows how to execute a legal handball. Wish they noticed last week though.

      I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

      The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
