The Sir Doug Nicholls Round kicks off in Darwin with a Top 4 clash between the Suns and the Hawks.

On Friday night the Swans will be seeking to rebound from a challenging start to the season, while the Blues have the Top 8 in their sights after their sluggish start.

Saturdays matches kick off with a blockbuster between the Collingwood and Kuwarna with the Magpies looking to maintain their strong form and the Crows aiming to make a statement on the road.

The Power face a difficult task to revive their season against a resilient Cats side looking to make amends for their narrow loss last week.

The Giants aim to reinforce their top-eight status, while the Dockers will be looking to break the travel hoodoo.

The sole Saturday game is a critical matchup for both teams, as the Bulldogs strive to cemet their spot in the top six and the Bombers desperately want break into the 8.

Sundays start with a bottom 3 clash between the Tigers and Kangaroos with both teams wanting to avoid the being in wooden spoon contention.

The Round concludes with the Eagles still searching for their first win of the season, while the Saints look to keep their finals hopes alive with a crucial away victory.

Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

Gold Coast should win this easily.

Hawks have rested plenty

Both Coming off a 5 day break but no travel for GC which is important

Since this is a safe space I’ve come to share how much I hate Sam Mitchell.

Yes, a great player.

Yes, he’s showing he’s a very good coach

Forever a smug little [censored]

That was a fantastic Welcome to Country

Have you ever noticed during WTC how the broadcaster always zoooooooms into the faces of the indigenous players. It’s really odd

It would be even more odd, if they didn’t…

Umpires please put the whistle away unless absolutely necessary this quarter. Watson’s free is an example, grabs ball and handballs the ball away but cops a high touch over the shoulder from the oncoming opponent. The ball had moved on, the touch wasn’t malicious or in any way dangerous, its play on surely. But no whistle yet again and Watson scores. 16 frees paid in quarter one.

Couldn’t stand him as a player - can’t stand him as a coach either.

Great to see Newcomb getting called twice already for chucking it. Seriously don’t think he knows how to execute a legal handball. Wish they noticed last week though.

Is Mac Andrews really any good? I’ve watched 6 or so of his games and see nothing amazing.

Well I think he’s pretty good and has a very good future.

I find it hard hearing the commentators calling Watson the wizard but he is quickly turning into a very good player.

Umpires keeping Hawks in it at this stage. Watson gifted another after a Suns mark but called play on.

Freekickhawthorn . Is there any more arrogant team than hawthorn? [censored] they haven’t learnt a shred of humility

His third quarter has been awful, not sure he’s a defender

Is Mac Andrews

He’s done absolutely nothing tonight except leak a few goals which exactly the same as when I last watched him

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

The Demons lacked some polish but showed a lot of heart and took it right up to the Bulldogs in an attempt to spoil their finals hopes ultimately going down by a goal at the MCG.
