If melksham goes we should riot.

If bo Allen who smacked viney in the head with eyes off the ball gets off...m we riot.

The Fox Footy commentary team were doing everything to get him suspended, meanwhile Viney cops a fist to the face with eyes not on the ball and they shrug it off. The bias from them is honestly sickening at times. The Waterman free kick with May getting stuck into him was textbook him dropping his knees to initiate contact, but no they just say "not sure what he's complaining about it's a clear free". Guarantee if that's Fritta or Kozzie doing it they call out the drop of the knees.

Well, I was wrong on Fritta and Melky in the same forwardline.

Both looked dangerous and Melksham played his best game in a long time.

Outside of stoppage, a very ordinary first half again, but Max Gawn. Wowee. What a champion.

However, I'm going to knock this BS idea that no Max, no Melbourne. Take out Martin and Richmond probably don't have 3 flags. Take out Daicos and they don't win in 2023. These hugely influential players are so influential because they're near impossible to stop.

Anyway, Trac and Chandler were good, kudos to Turner for getting on the scoreboard in the second half, another pretty good night from TMac too, Viney's attack on the man all night was really important, and 17 tackles inside 50 again. 👏👏👏

Tholstrup had an almost game, 0.3 could have been 3 snags with some more experience under the belt

I'd keep playing him

He was frustrating, an almost game is exactly it. Each behind he definitely could've (should've) got, he dropped easy chest marks but takes a good grab on the goal line.

I'm on the fence, it's tempting to give him some time at VFL but someone made a good point that his biggest issue isn't getting involved it's getting up to the pace of AFL. Playing at Casey won't help that.

If he wasn't a high draft pick, you wouldn't be saying that. What do you actually see? I don't expect consistency, but I want to see a glimpse. He has no football speed and awareness is very poor. Dropped 2 absolute sitters,

I suspect they will be glass half full in his performance internally and keep him in

Loved that.

My son and I had the massive jack viney flag from the demon army.swinging it and bloking peoples view was pissing of so many west coast fans which was a thing of pure joy for me.

Reminds me of Cam Rayner

Gawn, Chandler and Turner were all fantastic tonight.

Melksham had some great moments as well. Some fantastic forward 50 entries.

With three wins in a row the question must be asked, are Melbourne back to their best?

it’s a resounding yes from me. Bring on finals.

That Will Schofield is a peanut, apologies to peanuts.

Wants Melksham suspended, suggested several times Spargo gave a Weagle a cheap shot after the whistle was blown. Spargo put a tackle on half a second after the whistle was blown and he claims it a cheap shot. That guy is so infuriating I nearly needed a new telly.

What specifically? Doesn't have any of the power, speed or marking ability. What skills have you SEEN?

He did an interview with the Deebrief and I thought he was good on there, talked more like a footy fan than a commentator. But his bias was massively showing all game, from trying to get Melk suspended, to shrugging off Allen's punch to Viney's scone, to Waterman dropping his knees and absolutely no mention of it. He was also always making points about cheap shots from Melbourne players but ignoring the ones from West Coast players.

So many on here thought we’d lose. I assume similar vibes were on the Gameday thread at half time.

I hope those posters are happy. 15 minutes in the second aside, a strong performance in the areas we care about. And we won a last quarter!

Obviously West Coast are historically bad, so that must be remembered, but from where we were three games ago, a 32 point win tonight is solid.

Also, Max Gawn is the GOAT.

I think he actually moves well, relatively swift without looking fast

Big bodied and competitive in contest, particularly for marks

Definitely keep playing him, breakout game awaits

Man, Gawn is an absolute legend of the game. Career best form??? How is this possible?!! Also loved his post game interview, talked up his interviewer, took the mickey out of himself, and gave some insights that we’d never hear elsewhere. Just an absolute God.

Will take that win any day of the week even if that second quarter was the absolute quintessential Dees footy.

Of the younger guys, I thought Langford is great on the wing, which is funny because he was meant to be an inside bull who could push forward (which I’m sure he can). Very versatile and skillful young man. Windsor is such a jet too, it’s good to see him back to his best (even if he ran 25m). McVee is still miles off his best and Tholstrup, well the less said the better for now. I’d persist with him though.

Beat the Hawks next week and the season is ALIVE!

Bit of an over reaction? It’s a federal election and doesn’t typically happen

I tipped us with zero confidence. At half time I was so frustrated that we let them back into the game and they even had the lead. I agreed with what you said though, in terms of match play there was maybe a 10-15min patch where they were on top and the rest we had them in most areas. Kicking goals is huge, but missing gettable shots is almost bigger. You can tell the shoulders drop from the players and they start to think, "all that work for nothing". Goals brings confidence, and I honesty feel like confidence is our biggest enemy right now. We are one bad miss away from slumping backwards.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
